They sure have. I was browsing the Porsche showroom while I waited for the inspection to be completed on my BMW. I spoke with the gentleman there, and it seems they haven't been able to find a buyer for a while. He told me the bottom line, and I couldn't believe it at first.

Keep in mind that this was a few months ago, and now they may even take less.

190k was the bottom line back then, but I know they still have it. So although it seems enticing, I guess one can be had for less?

Porsche dealer in Newport Beach, California just sold a mint condition GT2 with less than 2000 miles on it for 190K.

Wow, I got mine w/ 400 miles on it (previous owner scared himself) for way less than 190k on a 210k MSRP car.

Congratulations on getting a good deal. I just did a search and found the listing on eBay Motors for the GT2 at Herb Chambers. Their 'buy it now' price is still 190k, and I want to say the car has something like 43miles on the odometer.

I remember a thread you posted when you made your purchase; I think black looks great on the new GT2. Enjoy it in good health; it sounds like you got a great deal on it.

I think most dealers are delusional if they think they're getting 190k on a car like this with a very limited buyer profile in this market. Especially w/ the 2010 TT w/ PDK (and maybe S version) coming out, which appeals to a far broader audience. Bringing a GT2 RS over at 250k+ MSRP in this market would be ridiculous, IMHO.

I completely agree with your sentiments. In my experience, I have found dealers that are located in relatively large markets (i.e., metropolitan areas) are the least flexible on price and would rather let the car sit than move it at a discount (and still make something off the deal).

In retrospect, 190k doesn't sound like a deal at all. I am not an expert on these cars or their relative value with respect to making a transaction; however, I think they would have to take another 5% off the bottom line to sweeten the deal. I will go as far as to say that this IS a buyer's market, and I think the days of free-wheelin' deal-makin' easy bank financin' are well behind us. All of this factors into the probability of making a transaction within a respectable timeframe.

These are just my two cents.

150k is actually pretty good. Is it possible that i can get a even better deal if i wait until Jan 10? A 08 GT2 would become 2 model year old.

There are several low mileage, pre-owned ones for sale, with existing warranties, from $140-166K (MSRPs of $213-219K). The prices keep falling...I would love to graph the decline in price over time. It seems to be a car that was launched at the wrong time in the wrong place.

How long is the CPO wrannty good for?

Does it make a big difference if i wait until Jan 2010 to make the purchase or lease?

There are plenty of them on the market,so i don't mind to wait a little bit for a even better deal.
