Looking at a Turbo

Looking at a 997 Turbo. For some reason I see a good amount of them on ebay\autotrader that are triptronic. Normally I would stay away but is there something I am not aware of with a turbo and a trip trans that makes it more desirable? I rather a 6-speed but would take a PDK but the PDK is too new and the prices on those are still high.

Also the prices seem to be vary on the same option same year car by as much as 10k without much explanation.
Saw one 2007 15k miles fully loaded from dealer (incl PCCB and CPO) asking $92k.

the ones that are 10k higher in price are delusional dealer who bought the car for too much and do not feel emotionally ready to take a lose.

Tip cars are more desirable because most people dont like having to drive a stick car thru traffic

tips are actually LESS desirable for porsche's and especially for the turbos because the majority of turbos/porsche owners feel a 6speed is the only way to go with a sports car (hence the name of this forum...) the reason you are seeing more tips than manuals is simply nobody wants them and with the pdk tranny coming out less people will want them.

i bet there were twice as many 6 speeds sold new compared to tips, but twice as many tips available used now so you can decide for yourself.

This is very true, auto prices might go even farther down once the PDK is released.
Well on the othere hand, someone looking for an auto turbo probably does not know/care to know the difference in PDK vs. 5spd tip.

In LA a majority of turbos sold are automatic, mostly trophy wives or anyone who has to deal with LA traffic.

I drive in traffic here often. I still love the 6spd tranny - it's the only way to go. But I have not driven a PDK TT yet. I may change my mind after that experience....
