1120 hp. 9ff GT9-R
Last year, Porsche tuner 9ff officially broke the Bugatti Veyron's speed record by hitting 254 mph in its GT9 supercar, simultaneously setting the official world record for the fastest speed on street-legal tires. Just 1 mph shy of the SSC Ultimate Aero's record, 9ff is back with the new GT9-R to claim the title once and for all.

According to 9ff, in top trim the GT9-R should hit 62 mph in just 2.9 secs, then 186 mph in 15.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 257 mph to claim the production car world record. What's more, the GT9-R will do it with only six cylinders. The heavily modified, turbocharged 4.0L boxer six-cylinder motor will be offered in three stages starting at 750 hp, then 987 hp, and finally the full 1120 hp. That makes the base car good for a top speed of 236 mph and the mid-range build good for the aforementioned top speed of 254 mph. Of course, should you decide you want to work your way up, the engine can be upgraded to the next power level at any time.

Like the engine, the transmissions are naturally sourced from Porsche. The customer can choose between a six-speed manual or a six-speed sequential automatic, or if they stick with the 750-hp base model, a five-speed Tiptronic automatic.

While all three power levels are street legal, they're also track-optimized. The two higher trims are also optimized for top speed runs, but at this price point, 9ff will set it up however the buyer wants it. Loosely based on the Porsche 911, the GT9-R features lightweight construction throughout, from its tube frame to its carbon-Kevlar body. While it's made to be the fastest street-legal car in the world, it's not just a track wonder. Like the body, 9ff will outfit the interior any way you want to pay for it.

9ff hasn't announced pricing yet, but as is always the case with cars like this, if you have to ask, there aren't nearly enough zeros on the end of your paycheck. With only 20 cars to be built for worldwide distribution, those of you with the means will want to be on the phone with 9ff yesterday getting your order in.

I think its shows the potential of the transmission and the engine, even though it’s only for a brief moment.

I wonder which Tyres they are using? 257 mph is a SERIOUS load on the rubber. Anyone know what brand, or if they are a special build specifically for this Car?
