AWE 750R install

Just recently upgraded my 08 997TT 6spd to the AWE 700S/750R package. I am very pleased with the performance. I previously had a ECU flash/Tubi street system, and the 700S system is night and day faster. The little bit of getting on it in 2nd and 3rd gears is dramatically faster than my previous setup. Power comes on immediately and hard. Feels like the car is taking off. My wife went "holy sh@@" the first time she rode in it, and she was very familar with the old setup. Haven't fully got on it yet as only driven about 500 miles since install.
The breakdown:
Clutch: the sachs stage 2 with my OEM dual mass flywheel. I am surprisingly loving the feel of the new clutch better than OEM. I like the clean engagement, which is set more in the mid to deep range in the pedal travel. For my style, this results in clean shifts with no sliding. Effort is very similar to stock, no chatter since I kept OEM flywheel. Excellent upgrade.
Upgraded VTG turbos: Excellent response, spool up quicker than stock turbos, minimal to no lag. Part of the reason I chose this package was to retain stock DD feel, and these upgraded turbos fit the bill. I know I could get more power with a Garrett turbo, but these will still get 18 plus pounds of boost almost immediately.
GIAC software: Smooth startup, OEM feel, good differential between normal and sport, very quick boost settings. Good pedal to power feel. Excellent, and the flashloader is a very easy way to switch ECU files.
Exhaust: The headers and the second generation single muffler AWE system with tips is great. Has a deeper, throaty sound than my Tubi, but I also have headers now. No resonance, great system. Everybody at my workplace says my car sounds awesome and better than previoiusly. The dual tips look so much better than the OEM tips, clean install with minimal underneath overhang.
Intercoolers: Difficult to judge since it has been no warmer than 60 in Colorado, but cooler intake temps make incredible differences in power, and it is a proven mod.
Throttle body: 10% more airflow, like breathing though a bigger straw. More responsive across entire powerband, looks OEM.
Install: Very pleased with Avalon Motorsports in Denver with the install, everything appears first rate with the install, very clean, good communication. It is always scary seeing your ride with the rear bumper off and stripped down.
Overall, it is nice to maximize the bolt on potential of the 997TT GT1 block. It is beautiful to have 700hp on tap on pump gas, have a smooth reliable supercar that will outrun almost every car on the planet. Hats off to Porsche and AWE. Can't wait for some warmer weather. Happy Holidays!

Congrats and welcome to the 700 club! It is truly an amazing package for this car that retains 100% of the factory DD qualities. Just a heads up - you might as well put the order in for the Damptronics now. You have far too much power for the stock suspension!

Paulie I have the B&M unit in my car. I did the install myself and it shifts better that the factory SSK that was in my 997Gt3. My buddies Rob and Doug both have the factory SSK in their 997tt's. We all planned to do a GTG this weekend if you are around you can try them all. We promise not to tell Sean so he won't get all jealous on you...

wanted to do the complete system awe, as the package was developed with that specific exhaust. I sold the tubi anyways, and am very pleased with the sound of the awe system

Phil,
I am the one that purchase your tubi exhaust! I finally got all the CEL resolved. Your setup looks great! Enjoy the ride.

Glad you are enjoying the tubi without the CEL. Now you need to upgrade your ECU transform the car.

Congrats. For big power like this, an integrated package from a trustworthy vendor is the ONLY way to... er.... "fly." (Literally.)
Enjoy the car in good health.

Nice write up. I just got my TT to 600HP, I can't imagine 700+ HP, I guess once I get familiar with the power I will probably want more. Do the mods ever end
