The 996 had a less involving front end so it went a long way to adding to the look of it.
The 997 looks a lot better and much more classic in its stylings so it's more of a personal opinion thing.
Personally I would rather go for a GT3 vent smile on the bumper and some proper black mesh in for the radiator instead of the fins. I think that looks great.
