Exhaust Resonance
Cannga, thanks for the great info. As I really like the higher-pitched European sound as opposed to the deeper rumble, I've pretty much decided on the Tubi Street. I know the smartest thing to do is to wait and see if I can find someone in the Toronto area who has one to listen to, but that's unlikely this time of year (at least in Toronto!). As my car is my DD, don't know how long I'll end up waiting. Probably will bite the bullett and go for it in the next few weeks or so. Heart vs. brain...
Rambo, you are welcome! Yes if the deep gutteral growl is not important to you, then Tubi is an excellent choice. It's well loved by many, and especially good for convertibles.
Just discussing for fun here: By "high pitched European sound," do you mean Ferrari or Lamborghini? If so, note that that is NOT what the Tubi sound like and anyone who knows exhaust will tell you that NO exhaust system in the Turbo make it sound like a Ferrari (mechanical scream, staccato, not much low frequency) or a Lambo (my favorite). Not GMG, not Cargraphic, not Tubi, nothing can reproduce that sound.
In other words, while the Tubi and Ferrari share that character of less low frequency component, only the Ferrari has that mechanical angry scream all the way from bottom to top rpm.
Good luck and have fun!

Cannga,
Unfortunately (and quite sadly), I know that nothing will come close to the Ferrari sound, which is my personal favourite. Outside the true exotics, my last BMW M6 had a wail at WOT to die for (best thing about that car). But it would seem that the Tubi is about as close as I can get on a TT.

Check my recent thread on the Cargraphic Race for a vid of the system.
Tom, excellent advice on exhaust as always.
Rambo, I know what you are looking for. Unless you are in a hurry, take your time and listen first. You could see from Tom's advice above (who no doubt knows a lot more about exhaust than I do) that even if you pick Tubi, there are different Tubi's you have to hear.
I have some idea of what you are thinking, because this is exactly what I and a "forum friend" had in mind when we were choosing exhaust systems. We both wanted to hear Tubi, thinking it sounds like Ferrari, partly because Tubi makes exhaust also for Ferrari, and it's in Italy, etc., etc. He went first and bought and installed. Upon hearing, I (and him too I think) immediately realize it's not the same sound at all. The Tubi Street is a lot more subdued at lower RPM, doesn't "scream" at the same high pitch and not nearly as loud.

Tom and Cannga,
Appreciate the advice. I know the Tubi Race would be closer to the sound I'm looking for, but as the car is my dd, and I do most of my driving between my office downtown and my home in a residential neighbourhood, the Tubi Race would be too loud for me. And then there's the wife, who thinks any exhaust that's louder than a Lexus is too loud, but that's an entirely different story...

To the forum member who PM'd me, unfortunately, being new to the forum, I don't have enough posts for the system to allow me to reply to you by PM. I just wanted to get back to you and thank you for the offer, but I think I'm going to end up going with a new Tubi from my dealer.
Much appreciated!
Much appreciated!
You cant go wrong with a Tubi street system. Be careful at the dealer, the local dealer to me wanted hard list on the system, I got it for $1000 less online. I am sure the sponsors would love to sell you one for much less than hard list
Get a quote to install it, installation can be pricey at the dealer too. Dont let them tell you it takes 5 hours either!

I recently bought an '07 C4S cab. I hate to sound like a newbie but during the first 3 or so minutes after a cold start the exhaust sort of has a hollow vibrating sort of sound. Once its all warmed up it's gone. Is that the "resonance/drone" everyone is refering to? Is it a Porshe design issue? Is it unique to certain models or years? Thanks everyone....
