Exhaust Resonance

New to the 997 TT and this amazing forum. Just bought a new ’09 TT cab 6 speed about a month ago. Coming off a 6 speed BMW M6 cab. Although I loved the M6, the TT is unbelievable. The only thing I liked better about the M6 was the exhaust/engine sound. Amazing higher-pitch sound under high-RPM acceleration. Sweetest sound this side of an F car to me. Never even turned on the stereo for fear of missing that exhaust note. <o

As I’m in the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

lace w:st="on">Toronto</st1
lace></st1:City> area and bought the car at Pfaff Porsche, I went to Pfaff Tuning to change the exhaust. Absolutely great guys there. Put on their latest Pfaff Tuning sport exhaust and Fabspeed tips. Only problem is resonance/droning in the 2300-2800 or so range. They’re going to change it out for a slightly different version of their Pfaff Tuning exhaust next week, and I’m hoping that will do the job re the resonance. But if that doesn’t work, I’ll have to go with one of the branded exhaust systems. I’m not a track guy, just a plain old executive who drives to the office downtown and does some summer road trips. Also do a lot of top-down driving with the wife and young kids in the summer. So not looking for anything really loud (but do want something better sounding than the stock exhaust). After listening to everything I could find on YouTube, I was leaning towards the Tubi Street, as it has a bit of the higher-pitched sound I like, but after doing lots of searching of old threads and reading on this site, there seem to be a number of members with the Tubi who do have the resonance issue (although I know not everyone does). I know it isn’t a big deal to some, but I really don’t like the droning. I’d love to know from anyone with experience which reliable exhaust they’d recommend to avoid the resonance/droning issue as much as possible, (and that isn’t really loud). Would also love to know if there’s any TT cab forum members in the <st1:City w:st="on"><st1
lace w:st="on">Toronto</st1
lace></st1:City> area who have a setup without resonance I could listen to, as I know YouTube is not the best way to evaluate the actual sound. Much appreciated in advance for any help you guys can provide! <o

Bob...did you get everything sorted out with Switzer? You can PM me if you prefer.
I had the Tubi street. There was some mild resonance at 2500 RPM but at WOT the sound was incredible . I kept it for over a year and really liked it.
THEN - I got the bug to get the Tubi race and I have to say that there is less resonance at the low RPM . It starts up louder and at WOT it screams out loud but with low throttle it can be so quiet that one would never imagine its ferocious sound . It is by far the best exhaust I have had on the car .

I believe the Pfaff exhaust IS the fabspeed exhaust rebranded.
The best non drone exhaust for a TT cab is the Tubi street, no doubt. There are a couple of sets available in the FS section I believe. The FVD is a great exhaust, my current choice, but it would be too loud on a cab imo.

was at a small Houston 997tt meet today, and 4 of the 6 997 turbos had AWE exhausts on them, including 1 cabriolet. The cabriolet owner is also a very discerning audio/videophile who built a home theater ranked #1 in the nation. Having heard the Tubi and the AWE exhausts, I can recommend those as ones that will likely meet your criteria
Appreciate all the advice. FYI, changed my username to Rambo1 as was having difficulties with the original Rambo username.
Just got the replacement Pfaff Tuning exhaust on today. Doesn't seem to have the resonance problem, but going to put some miles on it and see what happens. If it doesn't work out, will likely end up going to Tubi Street.
FYI, the Pfaff Tuning exhaust is actually manufactured by Pfaff Porsche's top service guy himself. Pfaff is one of Canada's bigger Porsche dealers and their tuning shop does all kinds of tuning and aftermarket work. The price is about half of the Tubi's.
Thanks again for all the help guys!

The Tubi Street is a no-brainer for anyone looking for the best all-around exhaust. We installed the system on NJR911's coupe after removing it from another customer's Cabriolet. I can honestly say it's the best of both worlds! Very subdued and tame at low speeds, with no droning. When you dip into the throttle heavily, the sound is exactly what you'd expect to hear, aggressive and exotic.
If your new setup does not live up to your expectations, definitely give the Tubi Street a try. I am sure you'll love it.
