2010 turbo manual impressions
2010 turbo manual impressions
I've had my turbo for nearly 1 week and covered 1,000 miles.
Good points:
Power. It pulls stronger than a 997tt.
Handling: Feels more planted at the rear and PTV really is quite impressive.
Noise. Engine is less muted than before, not by much though.
Bad points:
Whistling from the passengers side needs looking at.
Steering wheel could be better looking - it has nasty grey plastic.
Sports shift. 2-3 is *very* difficult. Forget 2nd when cold. 1st requires a bit more effort.
I've never had the sports shift before on a turbo so not sure what to expect. I did drive a
c2s a couple of days ago and its was an absolute gem in all gears.
Others have said it will get easier but right now I just can't see it being anything like
the one in the c2s - is the gearbox/short shift much harder in a turbo ?
I'm going to give it another 1,000 miles before swapping it back for the original.
Pictures to follow....

Congratulations on your new car! Thank you for your brief review. Do you have any pics to share?
When I drove both cars back to back, I felt the 6 speed power delivery to be very similar, although the new car is quicker.
Just as an interesting note, here are several comparison dynos between the 997.1 versus 997.2. If we focus on the stock configuration, the power delivery curves area almost identical (although greater for the new DFI engine.) Boost delivery also is near identical.
While dyno run dependent, the new engine was supposed to be higher compression, lower boost...lol

I am not sure I understand the logic in this purchase. If I were going to buy a 6 speed Turbo, it sure wouldn't be a YOM 2010. The limitations on mods alone would create havoc. Knowing the new body style is right around the corner would make me buy a used Turbo and wait to see what happens with the DFI 3.8.
With that being said, Congrats on your new car!

Acceleration feels more stable with them on.
