It's Official: Porsche Turbo S announced
Where the heck are people getting the strange thought this car could do under 3 seconds 0-60? And a Panamera Turbo in 3.3? Huh?
Once you get down to the low 3's it doesn't matter how much power you have. The tires can only put so much to the road. Let's be realistic, this will be .1-.2 faster to 60 than a stock Turbo with the sport chrono and PDK. I vote for .1.

Car and Driver Testing results for Panamera Turbo (MSRP $147,945 as tested)
0-60 3.3 sec
1/4 mi 11.7 @ 119mph
Braking 70-0 in 159ft
Skidpad 0.92g
They felt launch control (part of $2280 Sport Chrono pkg) had something to do with 0-60 times. Just for reference, the 0-60 and 1/4 mi times for the Panamera are 0.2 second and 0.1 second quicker, respectively, than the last 911 Turbo they tested. They loved the interior, but there were no defenders for the exterior styling.<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <!-- / message --> <!-- sig -->

That's what makes horse races! I love the Panamera styling...but then, maybe I'm nuts!

True, it is 30 hp, but it also has perma-boost unlike the regular turbo which only gets over-boost when flooring the go pedal and only 10 seconds of said fun.

And a ****-load faster to 120 and beyond. The higher the speed the further the .2 will distance itself from the .1. 0-60 times are rather meaningless.
If you believe that I have a bridge I'd like to sell you... C&D times are meaningless. There's no way anybody could ever get a Panamera Turbo to do 0-60 in 3.3 even on Cup tires. A 997 Turbo with PDK and sport chrono can barely do that with the same HP but 1000 lbs less weight.
Apart from the 30hp power hike, it seems the rest of the S package is just ticking the boxes on all the performance related options available with the regular Turbo and taking away the choice of manual transmission. Is there anything else exclusive to the S apart from the extra power? Is the extra power due to ECU tuning only or are there mechanical changes?

I don't want to bust your bubble, but I have one in my garage and I also have a GT2 and have owned 6-7 997 turbos and one 996. My general gut feeling is that I have the qualifications. Without a doubt, the Pana Turbo gets to 60 in 3.3 to 3.4 seconds. I'm thinking you just don't want to believe it. I bet it gets there faster than my GT2. It's technology. I have launched my Pana Turbo a few times and I would know more than the average person.

Porsche says that 997.2 Turbo has crank 500hp...Evolution Motosport says it puts down 490awhp...so mybe Porsche is again shy and S will be +30hp awhp
10 second stock car would be nice

0-60
I was the biggest 0-60 junkie of anyone I've ever met...
Bought the Nissan GTR for the claimed #'s. While the stock LC voided warranty, the factory revised flash allowed for LC of sorts. I was able to achieve 3.7's, when the GTR was perfectly set up (not easy). But, it was so damn boring due to lack of sound and feeling...very Playstation-esque.
If you want #'s, go get it. But damn lame.
That said, cars like the GT2, Scud and LP560 offer serious emotion in how they achieve the #'s. I'd have to drive the new S, but with PDK can it be too far off the souless GTR experience? I hope it is.
But I know I wont buy a sports car again for the #'s. A 360 or 360CS, or GT3 can bring more smiles to me.
Last note...at $160k+ for the S, you can get a low mileage LP560-4 or 07 F430 Spider...just sayin'.
