Thoughts on purchase price?
Hello Getz, I also went from a 07 M roadster to 08 M3 to a 07 turbo. I was going to order a 10 turbo but could not justify the price. I looked for a while and I agree if you like the car BUY IT. I personally think the cpo is worth the extra money if you can make it work. Good Luck!
Do you guys think going CPO is better than getting a third party extended plan? The SA really liked the 3rd party plan, although I am sure he gets a kick back on every sale.
That price is fair...I paid about the same for mine just a week ago...Only difference was mine was a cpo....The dealer also threw in a tire warranty for $1000 that will cover the wheels and tires for 5 years....If I get a nail in the tire, they replace the tire free of charge as long as there is 2/32's of tire tread with unlimited claims...Also it covers the rims from cracks and bends and also will cover aftermarket wheels and tires...
hang tight with your offer (i wouldn't go a dollar over)......... tell the dealer that few people are going to spend 90k on tt and want a tip and everyday it's on his lot he's losing money on it and it's depreciating in value and the newest 3.8 l versions have had great reviews.
I purchased a $4000 3rd party plan that my Mercedes dealer recommended that was supposed to cover EVERYTHING.
I discovered within 2 months that it didn't cover a leaking seal. $900! While it was in the shop for that, the dealer called and told me a front strut had a crack and did I want it replaced at $4500? I asked is it covered? They said NO. I said give me back the $4k for the insurance plan and I'll replace the strut.
So after 2 months I discovered that my top of the line plan really didn't cover anything that is likely to go wrong. I asked for my money back and only got back ~75% for 2 months of uselessness. I felt I got screwed.
I stopped using that dealer for my 2 Merc's after that.
CPO is most DEFINITELY better. Better to have PCNA cover it than get in the middle of some 3rd party outfit and the dealer. And yes, the SA is getting a kickback.

Oh boy, that would be a mess. Maybe Ill just CPO and keep the first set of tires for later.

I agree totally, and thats the approach I am taking. The gm at the dealership agrees totally with the purchase price, but the car is on consignment. He is going to call the guy again later today, and recommend that he sells at the price. I could easily wait 4 months and get the same car for cheaper, or possibly get an 08 with CPO. Does anyone know of any issues unique to the 07 that is not a problem in the 08s? From what I have heard RMS is not an issue in the 997 turbos, and that they are generally very stout machines when cared for. I have been dreaming about these cars for years, and after getting my nuts smashed in my medical residency, I have finally reached a point in my private practice where I can swing the car. It's amazing how relatively stressful this is.

Just bought an 07 with 4600 miles. Paid 95k for the car, msrp was 155k. It was a private party sale but we ran it through his dealer and cpo'd the car for an additional 2k. If it is the right car, just buy it. At this level, what is the difference of a couple of grand if it is exactly what you want.
. Don't let it be stressful. If you like everything about the car and it isn't a commonly seen combination of price and features then make sure it doesn't get away.
My nuts survived surgical residency but the car I wanted got away cause I was trying to save a couple of gs. That's like a kick in the nuts.

It actually worked quite well and the dealer was great. The previous owner was in a lease. He agreed to sell me the car for 95k. The dealer bought the car from the seller and resold me the car for 95k. The dealer added 2k for ppi & cpo plus $1k on top. The car cost me $98k total. One additional benefit was that I was able to finance the car, which I did. The dealer even shopped and got me a better rate rate than what Porsche financial was offering!

Did the same thing with my 08. Found the car through private party, found a dealership for CPO. This was not a lease. As long as it passes CPO inspection and you are willing to pay, they should be able to CPO. I paid about $3k for the CPO, inspection, dealer fees and commission.
