And there's an old adage about not buying a car during it first model year for the sake of reliability. Does anyone think that applies to the the 2007 997's?

No difference besides one more year of warranty. Not aware of any major bugs worked out between 07's and 08's off the top of my head.

I had the same debate when I was shopping a few months back. I ended up with 2008 just because I found a good deal on it. As bonehead mentioned, warranty and slightly less depreciation would be a couple factors to consider. Only minor change I heard about on the forum was addition of AC Off button so you can turn it off during spirited driving. Best of luck!
