Is the Panamera PDK programmed to not shift as harsh as the 997 TT PDK? Is there a difference in shift speed, and smoothness between them that you can tell?

Im at about 160 miles on her so far. The PDK is definitely set up to suit each car perfectly. If I HAD to complain I would maybe wish that the Second gear in the Panamera was mapped to stay in gear longer.

Believe or not the shifting in the TT is a bit smoother than the Panamera.

BUT, Im not pushing the car hard until at least 500 milers on it.

More impressions to follow

Are the Panamera's gears shorter to makes its launch performance better?

Be as ihonest as possible about the enjoyment factor; I have been thinking about trading for a 2010, but remain in question of losing the manual box. Cannot find a PDK to drive. Did not like the SMG in the M3s, but I'm told the porsche box is a much smoother box than the BMW one.
I've owned an M5 with SMG, an F430 with F1,etc....

I have owned my Panamera 4S for 4 months which is obviously a PDK car.

All I can say is that if ANYONE feels that driving my 10' TT is anything but FUN FUN FUN, they are nuts!!! It's the MOST fun and brilliant transmission out there in my opinion.

The delivery of USEABLE power is astonishing compared to my 08' TT and the control over the driving dynamics is in a whole other league.

I drove a Ferrari California recently which has a brilliant DCT but feels boring compared to the TT.

I am on F chat too and have seen you post several times. Honestly is this car more fun and exciting to drive than a mid engine F430? Turbos can be numb and muted sound wise .I have been thinking about upgrading to a 430 for a while now. I would love to hear your impressions.

Nice to see ya here buddy! Well, to answer your question in simple terms. NO, it's not MORE fun and EXCITING than a 430 BUT it's as much fun to me.

The visceral driving experience of a 430 is a combo of factors. It's like nothing else I have ever driven INCLUDING my new TT. It's LOUD, high strung, high rev, seat of your pants, etc.

The TT should not really be compared to a 430 since we are talking about completely different animals. I will say however that my 08' TT was pretty bland compared to my new one IMVHO.

My 430 spent 75 days in the shop over the two years I owned it. When it ran it was AMAZING. But, it was unreliable, finicky, and not built to last.

In general I find mid-engined cars to be the best handling. In the 430 I was able to push it REALLY far without fear of fish tailing. In my 08' TT I ALWAYS felt like I could loose the rear when pushing it hard. In the new TT with PTV, well it basically cures that problem. With the paddles, PDK, MUCH MORE POWER than a 430, and the reliability factor......I no longer miss my 430 and no longer have any interest in the 458.

At this point going from a TT to a 430 doesn't feel like an upgrade to me. Maybe to a 458, but not a 430.

Test drive a PDK equipped TT and then get back to me.

All the best!

Ape, it's GREAT to have you here man!

My first 430 (05) had problems with the clutch after 1K miles and Ferrari covered it. Are you sure it's not covered under warranty?

First off Congrats on the new car! It looks awesome and I am sure its one hell of a performer. Thanks for your feedback. Is it possible that the quality issues you experienced are just an anomaly? I haven't seen many F430 owners complaining about any reliability isssues thus far...maybe they have very low miles Either way , i see your point , the new tt with PDK is unmatched in every way except that it lacks the soul of the F car. IMO , Objectively speaking its probably the best all weather car in the world along with 560-4.
