rebuilding the DFI engine

Hi,
May be I am missing something, but if the cylinders of the new DFI engine are welded to the crankcase, how is it possible to rebuild this engine?
Many Thanks.

Just either hone the cylinders, usually enough, or bore out and go with new pistons and larger displacement.

What i don't understand is that, how is it possible to take the engine a part to begin with, or taking the pistons out. Lets compare the new engine to the old ones, in older engines first you take the heads out, and then the cylinders and pistons, and finally you get to open the crank case.
Now, lets say you take the heads out of the new DFI engine, now what? How are you going to take the pistons out? The cylinders must come out first, but they are welded to the case. Also there is no way to take the pistons out from the bottom of the engine. Once you take the heads out you cant go any further!!
If I am correct, how people and race teams are going to modify engines?
What if you are out of warranty?
Porsche is not going to supply engines more than ten years, then what?
