Passenger airbag light

My passenger airbag light comes on and stays on (disabling the airbag) intermittently on my 997tt. Took to dealer, they are not seeing any codes. Problem is it happens infrequently and without fault codes, so very hard to troubleshoot. Anyone else have/had this problem?

Heard it can be linked to battery under volt, but batt was replaced last fall.

A heavy book or briefcase in the passenger seat will cause the light to go on.

kidyeung is infamous around these parts
i had the same thing happen. passenger airbag light would go on an off.
figured out the wife left a water bottle behind the seat and put pressure on the seat when i moved the seat back.
also noticed the light would come on if i moved the seat too far back and put pressure on the seatback.

IIRC there are 4 sensors on the seat frame that will sense weight in the seat and if something under 40 or 60 lbs is placed/sitting in the seat the air bag will NOT go off in an accident. So, the light should be on with something under that weight in the seat but should the light be on with nothing in the seat?

The warning light is labeled "passenger airbag off". When you first start the car, the light illuminates as part of the test feature of all the warning lights. If it stays lit with no weight in the seat or with an adult seated in the seat, then there is a problem.
