how far out should tips be?

I'm going in on Tuesday to get the AWE exhaust tip retightened as the left one has pulled out half an inch or so. I could probably do it myself but I wanted to get something else looked at too. I was just wondering if there is a standard amount the tips are supposed to stick out or if it is user preference (within the allowed play of the tip)? I realize if you pull it out too much then the clamp will have less "purchase". Thoughts?

handdoc is infamous around these parts
all based on what kind of look you want, but you are right the clamp has to be around the pipe with the inner sleeve as well

To me it looks good in any position. I just want them the same on both sides! I did notice that the tips aren't perfectly horizontal, with the outer cylinder on each side ever so slightly higher. I think it has to be like that to clear the exit hole in the bumper. I love the look of these tips over the factory oval.

I must confess that I hadn't noticed the tips were bevelled until you pointed it out.

I have a AWE system... with Tips. The left tip was coming loose after installation of the system and AWE was very prompt no questions asked replaced at their cost once they talked to my technician.

You should consider a length shorter than these examples:

^^^^

Re. how far: probably minor point but I think it's a good idea to have it fairly flat with bumper's surface to prevent possible risk of burn from accidentally touching the protruding hot tip :-), and sometimes I need to use car cover.

Btw, Fabspeed tip has an 1 inch wide inner ring/collar, to be installed between the exhaust and the tip, that I presume is there to keep the tip from coming loose.

Just be sure the end of the tip isn't inside the end of the bumper. You can melt the bumper from the hot exhaust gas.

I lost a tip and didn't realize it until I pulled back into the pits. This is what happened after ~30 minutes of running without it.

The picture was taken after I found and reinstalled the tip.

Holy C&*p!
Is that after you installed Stef's? Man! Bad luck!
What happened? Did you mount it too recessed into the car?
Hope it's an easy fix and you don't need to change out the bumper!

I didn't get the clamp centered over the tip and exhaust end (I thought I had) and it blew off.

I'll let Suncoast take a look at it on Monday or Tuesday and see what, if anything, can be done. I may be in the market for a new bumper.
