auto trailer

Has anyone ever tried to put their 997 TT onto a uhaul auto trailer for track events that are far away? Seems like there might be an issue with clearance.

I trailer my 997 TT all the time ( I have my own trailer, but my input is the same for a uhaul or similar open trailer ). You will probably need to get some 6' to 8' by 10-12" boards to load the car due to low clearance. Next remember the car is very "tail end" heavy so you will need to have a trailer long enough to get proper weight distribution ( several threads on this ). Finally, you will need to get some ratchet tow straps...again several threads on this with pics etc. I installed the Rennlist hooks under the car and use ratchets without the extender strap as it's kind of hard to tighten car again due to low ride height. I ended up buying an all aluminium open trailer and love it. Sometimes it would be nice to have an enclosed, but the open trailer is light, easy to load/unload ( one person operation! ), and very easy to tow. Let me know if you have other questions as I spent a lot of time researching this to make it as easy and simple as possible.

Thanks for the reply. How long is your trailer?

Mine is a 17' made by Trailer World. It's 8.5' wide ( and I use all of it about 2" to 3" on each side ) and has 6' ramps ( I use 6' wood extenders ). 7000 GVWR. Make sure you have removable fenders as you will have to climb out window otherwise.

TRailer 2007 TT with U-Haul

I don't like to admit it but yes I put thtis expensive car on a $50/day u-haul.. My friends call it Red-Neck racing. My trips are 5-8 hrs in length. I never had a problem its tight on the sides but plenty of room, no issues with the body.

I use a couple of 2X4 on the ramps to the change the slope. It works great!

No worries
