Use of CTEK trickle charger and car cover?

I had thought about using my new CTEK trickle charger when my car is stored for a week or two at a time, but didn't think about the car cover posing an issue. Is it dangerous to cover the car when on the charger due to battery gases?

Advice/Experience would be appreciated.

Doug

Cover is permeable. I charge and cover the car frequently for 1-2 weeks at a time with no issues.

Thanks. I was just reading the manual and couldn't really distinguish between realistic concerns and lawyer BS. I did not want to end up like the picture of the exploded battery on another thread here.

Nope - no need. Just plug in the charger, cover the car and walk away for 3-4 months. Been going this for at least 10 years, never an issue and the car starts right up in the spring.

great, thanks. When you go to start it up in the spring do you open the hood, take off the trim around the battery and air it out first? Or do you just unplug the charger and start the car? lol, I'm just trying to avoid the blown-up battery scenario from that other thread.

If I left it charging for more than a few weeks, I'd definitely vent the battery compartment before starting it up. 10 minutes of venting is easier than cleaning up splattered acid

What should you do about tires? To prevent flat spots.

You could get tire cradles. Some interesting info here about permanent flat spots:

I've got three Porsches on Battery Tenders for 6 continous months a year. All are covered. When I start them in Spring, I leave the hood open. Thats it.

All I do is pump up the tires to 50lbs, plug in the charger and put the cover on. In the spring, drop the tire air pressure, disconnect the charger, open the hood and start the car. Never any issues storing p-cars in my detached 1908 vintage garage over the past 10 years
