Any other .1 owners NOT jonesing for the .2?
A lot of the reasons why I want to wait for the next generation Turbo have been mentioned! I've been wanting a Turbo since 1996, but back then it was not realistic. Every iteration since I have so desired and lately I have made the point that if u have been waiting this long I can wait some more. But now I can finally scratch that itch and I may just pull the trigger on a .2 and upgrade when the 991/998 is finally here!
My take, as a new 997.2 6 owner is that the upgrade at this point of the game is not worth the price tag. That being said... I have driven both .1 and .2 and the improvement in stock form is pretty obvious (to me). The power to the pavement in the .2 is amazing - it feels like the .2 speedo is about 20% fast. 100mph feels like 80, still trying to figure out if this is a good thing... The stealthy fastness of the .2 is intoxicating.
I opted 997.2 over 997.1 and mods, but being that there was not a .1 in my garage to begin with was no doubt a deciding factor.

But, if I were buying a .2 now I would really have to think about PDK.
Fantastic performance and very efficient shifting on the .2 but the main reason I bought my P car was for the 6 speed. For me the PDK took away from the total driving experience as did the older tip. To each their own. Not many cars at this performance level left the even offer 6 speed...hang in there Porsche!
Wanting a manual shift 2 seater was the reason for buying the P car in the first place. The PDK is certainly alluring but it's not what I really wanted.
Plus, having spent money on mod'ing my .1, it would seem senseless to start all over again especially when the new motor is still unproven.
I may keep this car until it's considered a classic...I hope I live that long.

ahhh, another rationalization thread as to why i'm happy with my current model and don't want the latest one, and want to convince others. happens every iteration and we'll see it again from the 997.2 owners when the 998 or whatever it's called comes out.
This isn't a question of stock vs. stock! This is more about should I trade my 'tailored' .1 for a stock .2. I wouldn't for sure.
love my car and simply no need to change, would love to really get that poster of all the turbos...... one 964 turbo, one 930 turbo, 993 turbo, 996 turbo.... you get the point, I love my car
Based on what?
.Karim, you represent the perfect .2 buyer as you don't own a 911 turbo at all so you will be so happy with this car you will be totally over the moon when you get it
.I cant wait to hear your reviews when you take delivery
. They will be very colourful and descriptive no doubt
.
You miss the point totally here and have failed to comprehend the replys to the OP. I havent heard anyone trying to convince anyone not to buy a .2 and, no one here is saying the .1 is a better car than .2 in a stock to stock comparison. It's basically all about the money to trade up for a car that looks little different to the one we all have. Im sure it will be a different story when 991/998 tt arrives. And for that matter what's your qualification? Do you even own a 911 turbo?
