Update!!!!
from Autoguide.com
Back in the summer of 2010, a Porsche 911 Turbo that was part of Porsche Canada’s press fleet was put through a garage door by the son of Canadian Auto Journalist Peter Cheney. The story generated all kinds of feedback, from those shrugging it off as “boys will be boys”, to righteous indignation bordering on “off with his head“.
After the dust settled, it emerged that the Porsche suffered only cosmetic damage, while Mr. Cheney’s garage met a crueler fate. The car has been fully repaired and is now being sold by a Porsche dealer 2 hours outside of Toronto, with a 2 year, 100,000 mile warranty as part of Porsche’s Certified Pre-Owned program. We must say, it cleans up well.
Porsche Canada PR head Laurance Yap confirmed that this is the same car stating that “After it was repaired, that car stayed on my fleet for several months and generated lots of great stories.” We bet. A Porsche 911 Turbo has that magical ability to make something like a trip to the dentist for anesthetic-free root canal surgery a fun time. At a hair under $150,000 CDN for a fully optioned car with about 13,000 miles on it, that’s a good deal for a car that cost $167,000 in 2010 sans options. Of course, Porsche’s recent price drops in Canada mean that a brand new Turbo costs $159,400 before add-ons. Whether you want a car with such an interesting provenance is up to you.

Truth
This post brings me back to being 18 1/2 years old. My Dad added a 300ZX 2+2 5 speed to the family garage. Lot's of convincing to get the 5 speed b/c he and my Mom could not understand why you'd want to shift if you didn't have to! It was designed to be a toy for him and a kool car for me to have acess to. I guess he did not want me using my Mom's XJS or his Saab 9000 Turbo.
One of my jobs was to keep the cars washed and looking good. I actually enjoyed keeping them clean.
Ome Saturday 6PM I went out to remove the T tops preping the car for a date. I reached into the car to start it to warm it up (in July) and the car was in 1st gear (left there by me after a wash and wax earlier). Well I am sure you know the rest. The car hops up 2-5 feet and goes nose first into the garage stopping just short of the Jags rear bumper. Luckily I had one of those black fake leather bra's on the nose and the paint was spared. Garage door and tracks were TFU'd.
Having heard the bang my Dad and my mother who were gettng ready to go out for dinner came to the driveway. As he looked at the car's nose through the garage door, he was holding in a laugh and said, what happened, I told him and he said, "You won't do that again will you?" 25 years later that experience has saved my kids from a few spankings!
Other than teasing me, I never got reamed for this past him telling me I need to think/pay attention before I act becasue the wost thing would have been if I got hurt. As a Dad myself I totally understand. As a Kid I was expecting to get my *** kicked. No waqy I though I'd be going out that night in that car. But I did, and everything worked out OK.
I hope the little guy in this post made out as well as I did!
He was a great guy and I miss him every day!
