2008, 2009 & 2010 911 Turbo Difference

Hi, new to the forum.....just sold my sc viper srt10 & am in the market for a replacement. Started looking at a used gallardo, however decided against it being that there are no lambo dealers close to me. Always liked the 997 turbo, used to have a 930 turbo yrs ago. Can someone tell me the difference from 2008 to 2010yrs. I know the hp was bumped up to 500, not sure if it was in 2010 or 2009. Would anyone know? Also as far as the body of the car I'm having a hard time telling the difference. Help responses appreciated.

One more question what is sport chrono package? Boost in torque or hp?

07-09 has the same motor and transmission. You have a choice between a 6 speed or a tipronic transmission. 07, 08 are the same on the inside. 09' had a few interior changes that are really nice if you're into interior upgrades. I have an 09' and I really like the changes. Here's a few of the changes I can think of
-Touch screen navigation
-bluetooth
-air cooled seats-option
-ipod connection
I'm sure there's a few more.

The 10' has a different transmission and engine. The advantage of 10' is the PDK transmission. If you're into a paddle shift car, it's amazing and really fast. If you enjoy a 6 speed, then save your money and go with an 07-09. If you're into modifying the car, the 07-09 motor has A LOT more options.

I chose to go new 2010 997.2 S PDK cab over used 2007 997.1 turbo. I wanted pdk and did not want to spend another $45k to get a new 2010 997.2 pdk turbo cab. Maybe I should have?? My next Porsche will be a turbo pdk cab.

Uh oh, P997S, you just got a 2010 C2S Cab, and you're already talking about your next car and "maybe shoulda" have gotten the Turbo Cab instead?
You're infected with Porschitis (the constant desire for even a better porsche)!

Also have a Viper. Bought an 07 997TT which can be had in the high 80's or low 90's with low miles. No significant body or engine difference between 07-09. I would search for an 07 to save some $$$. Mine only had 6k miles.

You will want sport chrono which provides the option of more aggressive throttle response, overboost, and firmer suspension. I wouldn't have one of these without it.

You are right. And from what I hear there is no cure. Don't get me wrong, I looooove my car but who wouldn't rather have a new PDK TURBO CAB?

Yep
I'm infected too. Never had a porsche before, so I dipped my toes in the water last year, on an impulse. I got a 2009 base cayman pdk, on the lot launch model, on sale for "cheap". I drove it for 5 months, and said ok "I'm sold" on the brand but time for the "real plunge" (no disrespect to 2.9 Cayman), and traded it it for a 2009 C2S pdk coupe.
WOW, worth every penny

PP997S, I'm confused on your post.

"I chose to go new 2010 997.2 S PDK cab over used 2007 997.1 turbo. I wanted pdk and did not want to spend another $45k to get a new 2010 997.2 pdk turbo cab. Maybe I should have?? My next Porsche will be a turbo pdk cab."

You say you chose a 2010 PDK cab over a 2007 but didn't want to spend the 45k extra. Then you say your next Porsche will be a Turbo PDK cab. In your description it says you have a 2010 PDK cab. So do you have the 10' PDK? And if you do, why did you say your next Porsche will be a turbo PDK cab when you already have one??

I have a 2010 997 S cab with pdk. I wanted a turbo but also wanted pdk so I couldn't get a pre 2010 turbo. I didn't buy the 2010 turbo because it would have been an extra $45k specd go my liking. I could have spent the same money I did on a 2007 turbo cab but again, Not offered with pdk. Does that make sense

I'm still not understanding. Above you say you have a 2010 PDK so I'm understanding you have a 2010 PDK. BUT, your second sentence says, "I didn't buy the 2010 Turbo because it would have been an extra $45k". So one sentence you're saying you have a 2010 and the next you're saying I didn't buy. I'm guessing that you were telling the other guy that if he didn't want PDK to save the 45k and get a pre-2010 car for a lot less??!? I don't want you to misunderstand me,,, I'm not trying to start an argument by any means!! I'm just trying to understand your point. Thanks!
