Release my car!!
Not possible. Satellite imagery is purchased by Google for their Map/Earth applications on continues bases. The imagery is usually many months old, some times years old, depending on location.
It would be neat thou to have a sat 'parked' in geostationary orbit right over the holding lot for real time imagery updates. Maybe next release

Crap, I was going either way on a Turbo or S. It fell apart on no fault of my own. But now I will never try to do business with a specific dealership in So Cal. All this talk of Turbo Seses isn't helping.
According to the dealer, my car is at the port in Baltimore waiting for the Monroney to be affixed. He telephoned Porsche to inquire if the car is being held and the response was there is not a hold on the 2011 Turbo S.
Congratulations! Please post some pictures when you have a chance!
Not to hijack the thread, but which stealership???

Incase you are wondering what Mr. von Platen looks like that is him on the left, and me on the right

My 2009 was held in port for 8 weeks waiting for emissions certification; some that arrived earlier than mine were held almost 3 months. The first batches of new model year cars seem to get tied up in port frequently and you are typically told nothing until the car is loaded on the truck.
Maybe there is a certification issue, maybe they want to deliver the West Coast cars the same time as the East Coast cars, etc., etc. Regardless of the reason, it is not uncommon and there is unfortunately nothing you can do about it. The wait is painful but once you get the keys, you forget all about it.
Attached is what Porsche sent to all of us who had to wait:

ruf_turbo...Actually this is my third 997 turbo; the first was a 2007 Tip which, to me, was a grave disappointment. Within two weeks of ownership, my order was in the system for a 2008 manual. Fortunately, at this time turbos were difficult to obtain and the Tip was viewed as highly desirable so I was able to escape relatively unscathed. I did, however, own a 2005 Carrera S prior to the 2007.
911TurboS2...Your timeline is correct. The three week period was measured from the day the car was loaded aboard a ship in Germany to delivery at the dealership. Assuming the Lapis Arrow arrived in Baltimore as scheduled on May 30, in spite of the holiday the car made it to Cincinnati within the 10 day window.

Well, you were right that my Turbo S will be a drastic upgrade for me! Mine has an estimated completion date of 6/14, so I'm guessing I'll see it by mid-July at the latest. I can hardly wait!
And I hope (know) you will enjoy the h#ll out of it.
ruf...an apology is not necessary. My dealer calls me a frequent buyer.
jfr0317...I stopped by the dealership to check out the car and it looks good. The centerlocks are very nice (had HRE P40's on my 2008) and the exhaust sound, in my opinion, is greatly improved...deep and throaty. The carbon air box is beautiful. I shall try for some photos tomorrow.
Your car may complete production and be loaded aboard a ship ahead of schedule...good luck with the wait. I look forward to comparing driving impressions.
