Release my car!!
Release my car!!
I have one of the frst 2011 Turbo's and it is sitting at the Port In Baltimore. Porsche will not release it to me yet and confused as to why. This is a custom build and npt for a dealers "lot". Can anyone show me how to see the car via satilite?
You are not alone. If I am correct our Turbo S's arrived in Baltimore last week and, normally, would have been at the dealerships by this time. What irritates me the most is not the delay but rather the lack of information and uncertainty.
Just don't let Porsche find out that the car may be brokered. Thats a big no no. There was a guy at my dealership that ordered a specced Cayenne GTS and they found out he had brokered Porsches in the past. They refused to deliver his car. Most likely completely incidental from your hold up, which is probably a temporary customs snag.

I wish I knew; yesterday I was speaking with a Porsche regional manager and he diplomatically avoided sharing any information.

Perhaps it's a customs issue.
I know it is not probably not the same case over in the U.S., but...
I know that all dealers in Kuwait are having mega problems importing 2011 cars because the IT systems at Kuwait customs are still not accepting 2011 this early into 2010.
Every 2011 is now having to have its paperwork done manually and it is taking a lot of time.
Hope you get it soon and post plenty of pics when you do!

That wouldn't be cool.

Man, you may not be a broker, but judging by your sig you go through turbos like underwear!
My 2009 was held in port for 8 weeks waiting for emissions certification; some that arrived earlier than mine were held almost 3 months. The first batches of new model year cars seem to get tied up in port frequently and you are typically told nothing until the car is loaded on the truck.
Maybe there is a certification issue, maybe they want to deliver the West Coast cars the same time as the East Coast cars, etc., etc. Regardless of the reason, it is not uncommon and there is unfortunately nothing you can do about it. The wait is painful but once you get the keys, you forget all about it.
Attached is what Porsche sent to all of us who had to wait:

I was at my dealer in Houston yesterday to check on the progress of my Turbo S order (scheduled completion date of 6/14/10), and the dealer asked me if I would like to see the first Turbo S they had received. It is a Turbo S coupe (customer order) that arrived in the Houston port on 5/23 and was released from port on 6/2/10. My dealer thought there might have been a hold for "inventory" or something, but at least this shows at least one Turbo S has now been released to a dealer. Hopefully, the others will follow in short order.
