Oil consumption question

I know this has been beaten to death but was reading some old posts and had a question.

Can't really say my oil use has changed with mileage (now have 35K). Pretty consistently, every 1,300-1,600 miles the low oil indicator will flash on the electronic dip stick. It will take pretty much quart to get to the top.

In reading some of the old posts some folks are using even more, while others are adding almost NO oil.

Would my oil use indicate any issues I may have long term? Meaning, if I wanted to put 100K on this car, would my use now (and from day 1 really) impact that?

I think i have topped it off 3-4 times in the last 6 months/4400miles. Each time I put in around half liter.

I average 1qt every 2k miles. Car smokes about every 5th time I start it up. Dealer said this is normal and that if I want to end it, I could put some non synthetic oil in for one cycle to seal things up. I'm not going to do that.

Break 'em in easy, and they burn oil. Run them hard, and the rings seat.

Isn't that old school?

What about pre-synthetic or with synthetic?

Doesn't Porsche test track test them anyway?

Interestingly the owners manual for my 6.1 Hemi (factory Mobil 1 0W-40) suggests occasional WOT blasts in 2nd gear during the first 1000 miles.

Are there TT owners that don't experience sub-2000 mile oil additions?

Not good advice. I have owned many P-cars and breakin is the key to how strong your car will run. Just take a look at my videos running against cars with 100+ more HP. It's all in the breakin and cool down of the engine.

For the first 2000 miles never raise the RPM over 4100. A good breakin pattern looks like this:

0-500 miles 3000 RPM max
501 - 1000 miles 3500 RPM max
1000 - 2000 miles 4000 RPM max

Seat? on what? Did you find those instructions in a cerial box xseal?

Guess what? Mine doesnt use a drop between changes. Now I wonder why that is???

And now i run it hard as i like as the rings "were" seated correctly just as the manufacturers owners manual specified.

I added one quart after the first 3800 miles in my new 08 GT2. Had the oil changed at 7300 miles (1 year service). Have added almost another 5000 miles since without adding any oil. Car is driven on open roads mostly, inluding fast driving through deserts and mountains of CA and AZ.

Hard to just exactly but feels like I am at roughly 1qt per 1000 miles... dealer said it's completely normal and stated anything over 1 qt per 1k miles is bad, but at 1qt is ok.... 100% not impressed w/ that response. I guess if it comes in at .999 qts it's fine.. but 1.0001 all of a sudden it's a problem.

But seriously is there anything I can do to reduce the amount it's burning? Would be nice if I didn't have to add qt every 3 weeks.

I have never added a drop to mine and the indicator never budges from the second from the top bar. Maybe it's dumb luck or maybe it's just coincidence, but I always break my cars in "aggressively" and they just don't use oil. And by "aggressively" I don't mean abusive, just run through the full range of RPM's early and often with proper warm up and cool down.
