Anyone ever go backward?
Anyone ever go backward?
It seems that the natural 'drift' in the Porsche world is to start with a 911 rwd (I have a 05 C2S) and ascend up the food chain to a awd turbo. I am looking for a 2010 or 2011 tt or tt-S. My question is does anyone go the other way ie missing the 'lightness', simplicity, the exhaust note etc. of the rwd normally aspirated car? Is the need for power and speed just too addicting?? You can only go so fast on most modern roads in this day and age.

I think you have a good point there and your probably right. Not to say the turbo should be bi passed along that road of progression though.
The turbo is an awesome car and that acceleration and power whoa!!!! but the Gt3.... that car sounds unbelievable and, drives just so good on track. The next series Turbo will need to be pretty darn convincing to keep me away from the Gt3 next time round. I do love the wider body of the RS though. Shame that cant be had in a regular GT3.....that could be a deal breaker.
It will be hard to go backward in acceleration and power. There is a trade off.

Don't get me wrong, the GT3 is a fun car BUT as a daily driver the clutch is too heavy, there isn't the torque rush of the TT, and AWD in the TT can extricate your butt if you ever get to far over your head.
Plus the TT can be mod'ed easier to suit your tastes in power, suspension, and looks. I wouldn't trade my TT for a GT3/RS.

I went straight to a 997tt, took it to TPC for stage 3 suspension and a tune, ... which is where I'm staying. Perfect road car. Appreciated the AWD in the thunderstorms last night. Appreciated the clutch in stop and go this morning, appreciate the handling and accelleration daily.

Turbo to GT3 is not the natural progression. It's either/or based on preference and needs. If anything, a GT3 leads to a turbo based on cost.
I recently went from base c2 to 2010 tt. As you mentioned, I do in some ways miss my plain simple c2. I even thought once to buy back my c2 and have both. I think the non turbo carreras have their own unique beauty. They are more sleek looking and more elegant. Turbo has more aggressive look. Just my 2cents

I believe the 911 in any guise is still a "911"..and still the most beautiful auto in the world. The 911 is synonymous with Porsche and is what Porsche best represents.
I always pray Porsche will some what remain the mystique that is "Porsche" and not be unduly force influenced under VW or by any stereo typical average driver market demands.
I want the 911 to be accessible and reachable.. but not fall too far from its prestige and grace or its racing heritage.

If only P would make a wide bodied gt3, gave it a lighter clutch (eg like a 997S) a full leather interior with SC and nav etc as standard equip, an extra 500cc's and maybe an extra 2 cylinders to make more torque, redline to 8500 rpm, 0 to 100 in 3.4 sec, 6 spd man and all the usual gt3 performace underpinnings, then we have a worthy adversary as a daily driver.

I think its more of a lateral move not backward. I went from C2 to GT3 to another C2 to turbo to RS but still kept my GT3, second C2 and the turbo, and RS. They are actually quite different. The most rewarding to drive on regular roads is the regular Carrera. It is really the essence of the 911. It is not over powered, it is actually perfect. The GT3 is just more hardcore, better on the track obviously. The turbo is the all weather supercar. The RS is really special, basically a GT3 turned up to 11. If had to keep just one, I could't decide. I have thought on several occasions that I should get rid of the C2, but I bought it back even after I traded it in for the turbo. I have learned more about driving a 911 while driving the Carrera than any of the others. I hope it makes any sense.

Can I put in my order. You need to apply to engineering
Exactly. I actually consider a GT3 a step down from a TT.

looks better feels better and will def satisfy your needs
