Vacuum pump would be on the engine, driven possibly off the camshaft/gear.

Cam position sensor reading will not be correct if your car has been flashed by tuning company. This would cause the engine to come out if the dealer believes the sensor is bad. I would let them know if the car has been flashed. If its flashed back to stock Cam position sensor would read normal.

hmm sounds odd, like speed 21 said only thing near the engine would be where the booster gets its vacuum from, did you possibly get into boost and blow the vacuum hose off for the booster, therefore not having any vacuum for the booster and no assisted brakes? maybe the dealer is giving you a story?
