No oil consumption

I got my 2011 Turbo S Cab 1600 miles ago and haven't used any oil yet. The oil level as measured by the dash system shows the same level as the day I picked it up. I have never had a Porsche that hasn't used some oil either during break in or after. I haven't gotten a malfunction light or a low oil warning and I am a little concerned. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Don't know if it can be compared to a 2011 but I have had to add little or no oil to my 05 C2S in 14.1K miles since new.

This is actually a good thing... You've just got a good engine My RufRTurbo, '08 997 TT, nor my current '08 CTT, burned/burn any oil. Several of my other Porches did burn a quart every 1K-1.5K miles.

You're in good shape

Me too

Mine doesn't burn much oil either. For example, I just drove over 4K miles and two days at Willow Springs and just had to add 1/2 quart. I took a very conservative approach to breaking in the engine - not sure if this has any effect or I just have one of those engines. I also do an oil change about 5-6K miles (learned this from sending oil samples to Blackstone labs - a good company who gives you useful info from a detailed analysis of your oil - and at little cost).

What a great car for so little regular maintenance (except for plug changes)!
K.

I have driven 2000 miles without the oil level dropping. It indicates full. Maybe dealer over filled the oil? Maybe the oil level indicator is wrong?

Doubtful the dealer would do this but I understand putting in too much oil can create problems (sorry, I forget which specific problems at the moment) so I take care to add 1/4 of a quart when its down one bar which always brings it up to "full".

My car smokes alittle on start up when COLD, but doesnt noticeably burn oil. I change my oil every year or 3k miles, sometimes more often. I may burn 1/2qt. It all depends if you run it high in the rpm's & put your foot down.

Thanks for the feedback, the 2011 have alerts for overfill and low levels in addition to oil measurement malfunction so it wasn't overfilled and it isn't using or broken but this was my first 911 that hasn't used any oil. I broke it in on the aggressive side, didn't jump on it or red line it but drove it regular without lugging or redline. Just got to 1,700 miles and getting ready to try LAUNCH MODE and can't wait!!!!!!

hahahahaha i got a kick out of this. I think P cars are the only cars where drinking a quart every 1000km is normal. Now all of a sudden it doesnt and we all get worried.

I am having the same experience with my new 2010 997.2 TT.

I now have 1000 miles on it and no oil consumption whatsoever.

Contrary to this I had a 2009 C2S which had to have oil added quite often. Went thru several gallons in a short period of time during the first 4000 miles.
