Is it because of the lack torque on the rpm range from this speed?

I would think that at 50 in second gear you would be in the meat of the powerband....I know I am.

He's only at 4k @ 50. Peak torque (around 820) hits around 4500 and peak hp (850) around 5800.

996 GT2s and 997 GT2s have different gear ratios:

997 GT2
1st: 3.15:1
2nd: 1.89:1
3rd: 1.40:1
4th: 1.09:1
5th: 0.89:1
6th: 0.73:1
Final drive: 3.44:1

996 GT2
1st: 3.82:1
2nd: 2.05:1
3rd: 1.41:1
4th: 1.12:1
5th: 0.92:1
6th: 0.75:1
Final drive: 3.44:1

So, at 50 mph the rpm of a 997 GT2 is app. 400 rpm lower than a 996 GT2 is with the same size tires. Personally, I prefer the more aggressive 6GT2 ratios for the type of driving I do.

i think on a 997 GT2, 60 mph would be the ideal speed to put me at the meat of my powerband.

Very nice car. Were you running race gas ... what boost?
And are you still on the stock motor?

I would like to get a similar setup but I'm contemplating on what I should be getting... the GTR or 997TT

Tim.
