Every time I call, get to speak to Todd.

Email logs to him and he responds back in hours during business hours.

actually, I AM TRYING TO GET PROTOMOTIVE UPGRADES. i dont think its todd, its the local tuner that is too busy. lucklily, there's another local tuner with ties to proto. i sent him an email asking when he can get to my car. At this point, whoever contacts me first is getting my $. i am aiming for 700whp, so there's more mods to come.

how do u like your Champion VTG and IC's? im leaning towards proto, but my local dealership is partners with Champion so i may just kiss their butt for warranty purposes. however, i understand that proto/ TPC VTGs put out around 50 more whp than other modified turbos.

Momentum will certainly take care any of your warranty issues ( if they arise ). Our uncomprimised warranty program will carry through to Momentum since they are one of our premier dealers in Texas. I'd be happy to set you up with the correct people.

Fastlaw, Keep in mind Venkat has our gen 1 turbo chargers/intercoolers and not our Billet Housing / 2010 intercoolers

Fastlaw,
you don't need to go through that specific shop for proto stuff. Call Todd up and order your things , and have another shop put your mods on.

Also you may want to give markski a pm he also deals with proto and his customer service is second to non!

Is the shop akram ?

I have been waiting for 3 months to get an exhaust on my car. I have been waiting 2 to get some tuning issues sorted out on my M3.

I have held my tongue because the shop you are referring to (I believe) does absolutely top notch work, which is why it is overloaded w/ work.

Also, in their defense, one of the owners wife just had a baby.

In general one must be extremely patient when it comes to modding cars, however I feel that there also comes a time when one should expect completion.

One thing I will say about Akram, if that is who you are referencing is, that he has always been very good about returning phone calls.

No matter how busy or what the situation at home might be it takes very little time to call a customer and let them know when you'll be able to get to them...ESPECIALLY if you have already accepted a deposit!

I'd still find someone else to do the work.

^^+1 You're much better off ordering the parts directly from Todd and having it installed for a couple of reasons. First you have complete control of the ordering-receiving situation. Second, if you buy the stuff through the shop they will be obligated to charge you sales tax wheres if you order it yourself it will be tax free since it's sold from a different state.

My advice, like that of others, is to use large shops and suppliers such as Protomotive.

Exmples of my experience:
-997TT modifed (bigger turbos, IC, the works) at shop #1: 7 days
-964 Turbo modified (adding headers): 6 months at local shop

Some shops charge a 25% "restocking fee", even if they have your car for months and haven't put anything on your car, but have simply ordered the parts. That seems excessive to me, especially if yu are doing a major project.

thanks for the great advice everyone. I just want to make it clear that i did not intend to dog any specific tuner and did not publically name names. The truth is that I dont know how long is normal for a tuner to get back to you, return phone calls, ect. What i percieved as lack of timely response made me concerned about not only getting the work done, but also about future service. That was the sole purpose for my question. no disrespect intended to the unnamed tuner. peace out.

I don't know who your tuner is, although the story is familiar to me, so I can probably guess. At this point you should move on, get your deposit back and find someone else. I took my car up to Ruf in Dallas, now RAC, and had a wonderful experience.

Fastlaw,
Just to give you an idea, we can have a 650 kit installed in one day, and a 750 kit in three days with manual transmission and two days if the car is a tiptronic.
The times mentioned above are from the time the parts have been received, normally we can have the parts ready in one to three weeks depending on availability.

All our installations are made under the factory specifications.

I wouldn't deal with any company that can't be bothered to return my calls - as long as I still have a choice. It sounds like you do, so get your money back and take the work to someone who really values your business.
