Whitenight thread https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...t-results.html

I remember many members dont believe them on that time ( im one of them lol )

In same time The funny thing is that other members with FVD didn't get same results and recently we got K24F from France got a bad results with stage3 kit (modded vtg's ) from FVD also..He ran 100-200kmh in 6.7sec

It is all depends on flash and pumpgas!!!!!!!

lets stop that drama
Actually I used a different gas station as well as brand from Skandalis as his choice is much more expensive (he runs Shell - I run EKO a Greek comnpany), but will give Shell and BP (my personal favourite) a go...

Indeed there may be significant differences in the way a motor runs simply because of fuel quality and a good flash can bring out the best of the motor relying on good fuel IMHO...

All in all I am pretty happy with the results which again I must remind you here did not come as a surpise to me having tested the tune in the past!

I have the APR flash and the Europipe exhaust and am stopping with just those mods. I couldn't be happier! Now, I just need to figure out my clutch issue! It was pretty amazing how quickly the stock clutch started to slip with that APR tune!!

Hello again,
just a small update... the other day I ran into Skandalis randomly and thought it would be a good opportunity to have a run and see the differences in the cars with these setups esp as I planned to install an exhaust later on.

So we rolled with 2nd gear and around 50-60km/h and blasted all the way to 220-230km/h (we then ran out or road)... The result to my amazement was that cars ran almost identical (with my front bumber being next to the side mirror of Skandalis car - that is what less than a 3 feet difference and I think it happened during synchronizing at the start) for the entire run from start to finish...

Granted that his car is a tip and mine a manual, but we have to take under consideration as well that apart from the flash I was bone stock and his car has an exhaust + a complete intake + carbon wheels and not to forget that I have half the milage (only 8000miles) and I think my motor will become even stronger as the milage increases...

Yesterday I installed a Speedtech exhaust 3" X-pipe with 100cell cats and I can safely say I felt a huge difference... not to mention the heavenly sound!!!
(thanks John)

I will make some new runs and possibly test it with Dimitris again and keep you updated as usual...

Hello Emre,
no unfortunately not at the moment, but I will try and make some runs tonight and let you know asap

P.S. Keep in mind that car does not have anything else than a flash/exhaust with cats and I always run pump gas, so my guess is that after 220km/h (as per my past experience) the performance starts to fall short compared to upgraded turbos... ofcourse that is all what I need at the moment

madsex,

Thanks for the info.

Thats what i wonder, if it the car has the power to make 100-200 in 6 seconds, it should hold the power after 200km..

If intake temperature is the problem after 200km, 4,5 or 5 inch intercoolers should solve the problem.

So then why do we need bigger VTG's ?

Thanks!

It sure has the power to do 100-200 in 6 - I can vouch for that ... However, as I have seen it runs out of steam (at least with stock Ic's) after 230km/h... Bigger VTG's should (in theory at least) flow more efficiently up top and produce more pull/power in those speeds where the aerodynamic drag is increased and the car needs even more power to pull hard... I think this is the main difference and this is what you get with bigger/badder turbos... Have been there and have done that in the past, but this time I wanted to stay as close to stock as possible (perhaps a set of IC's if they prove to provide any gains) and to be honest I am super happy with these results.... not many opportunities to go over 240km/h here either way, so...

Regards
Costas

My little experience with TT tuning (had my 997 in June this year, my 993TT since 2004) is now that stock turbos and "big" boost is better than upgraded ones and mid boost. (no scoop I imagine for severals!)
Even blasting at 60km/h in 3rd with the big VTGs do not full boost until 110km/h... (a few 0.x' lost at the early time)
With only 1.2Bar with upgraded VTg's the stock Ic's get heatsoaked in 3 gears pulling at 22°C AT, so it is a nonsense bolting them without the upgraded Ic's too. (The FVD stage 3 is uncomplete so...)

The good combos seem to be only good flash and good exhaust or upgraded VTG's but necessarly with Ic's and "big" boost which take them less "lazy"... (with good exhaust too of course)
Pump gas changes times too, but I only run "Elf 98'".

I will improve soon my engine and tell you.

Great post Costas. You finally put that boost claim well and truly to bed which is fantastic. It's a shame it didn't happen way earlier but as they say better late than never. I think most of us here already knew the answer but it's sure great to hear the facts finally. I'm actually in your country at the moment enjoying the fantastic weather. On the weight issue my observations are you guys are eating way too much food all the time. It's from all the relaxing...

Ps. Forgot to ask how you found the sports c mode against the normal mode? Does it feel the same or is throttle sensitivity different etc? This was another outstanding point that needed clearing up too.
