Pics of mod work on my 997.1
Nice stuff - you're not realty going to run E85 are you? I thought there was a lot to do to upgrade the "internals" before running this.
Proto has three exhaust options with varying degree of sound/drone. the 2.5" has little to no drone at highway speeds, its the most popular from what i understand. the 2.75" has some drone, as well as much louder sound when getting on it (this is the one im getting), and there is a 3" wich apparently has more drone and really puts out lots of sound. I chose the 2.75" because i figured it was the best compromise between drone and restrictiveness. oh yeah, mine is cat less also.
yes, i am going to run E85. there's a huge performace boost. actually, other than tune, there are minimal changes that have to me made, the biggest of which are larger injectors which run less than $300.
they produce a lot more power than modded GT2 turbos
E-85 ethanol is used in engines modified to accept higher concentrations of ethanol. Such flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV) are designed to run on any mixture of gasoline or ethanol with up to 85% ethanol by volume. There are a few major differences between FFVs and non-FFVs. One is the elimination of bare magnesium, aluminum, and rubber parts in the fuel system. Another is that fuel pumps must be capable of operating with electrically conductive ethanol instead of non-conducting dielectric gasoline fuel. Fuel injection control systems have a wider range of pulse widths to inject approximately 40% more fuel. Stainless steel fuel lines, sometimes lined with plastic, and stainless steel fuel tanks in place of terne fuel tanks are used. In some cases, FFVs use acid-neutralizing motor oil. For vehicles with fuel-tank mounted fuel pumps, additional differences to prevent arcing, as well as flame arrestors positioned in the tank's fill pipe, are also sometimes used.
I believe most of your points are covered by OEM manufacture since MBTE was
banned(2003) and all gasoline sold it the US was switched over to E10.
997TT comes with 60lbs injectors as standard and twin fuel pumps.
The 997TT OEM fueling system has enough overhead to accommodate E85 which requires 30% more fuel/flow at stock HP/TQ levels.
With upgraded 80lbs injectors you can mod the car to 700HP/TQ level, this is what I am running with no ill effects.

you need to upgrade the injectors to at least 80lbs. as to the car suffering no ill effects, i havent heard of any thus far. Venkat seems to have no complaints. I realize that this is a newer mod and certainly want to know if anyone has any authoritative info on running E85, either good or bad.
^^ no, the car isnt ready yet. I didnt take the photos of the MAFs; im not sure why they took those pics. i will ask.
by the way, i am having all of the E85 harware componants installed, but i am going to do a MS109/93 tune for now. I havent had my car for so long that i plan to use it as a DD when i get it back and i dont want to have to drive 1/2 hour to the nearest E85 station. However, i understand that Valero is planning to build more E85 stations in the area, so hopefully one is built closer to my house.
