$20k spent with just about ANY reputable tuner should get you in the high rent district, ie 700-800hp.

Yes, crank. To go higher you should seriously be considering a built up motor and that will jack the price.

All good, and I would add Champion, TPC, AWE and a host of shops that deal with the above tuners such as 911tuning, Sharkwerks and AWD, etc.

I heard good things about proto and switzer..

how much would a built motor cost in parts?

Is labor cheap? since the motor is right in the back?

Ive seen pic under the car.. and it looks real easy to work with..

I'll just let you know right now NOTHING is cheap on a porsche! Most shops will charge more just because of the fact its a porsche....

It's best to check with several tuners to get a price idea but I will say that GOOD Porsche techs get what they deserve. Expect to pay on average ~$100/hr from a tuner.

Porsche motors are NOT that easy to work on because everything is REALLY crammed in there. Many times the motor will have to be pulled and that adds to labor costs.

When you start talking about building a really high hp motor you are talking about replacing rods, maybe valves, pistons, etc. That isn't something you do without taking the motor out.

Also, the people mentioned (Switzer, Protomotive, Champion, EvoMS, etc.) are NOT local to you (Atlanta) so you would have to ship your car to them...unless you can find someone THEY recommend that is local.

First step, give each one a call and start doing your homework because there is no easy solution for what you are asking for.

Good luck.

PS: What do you want 700awhp for anyway? Dragstrip? Street racing? Bragging rights?

Thanx for the advice!

I checked a couple of companys before.. but they dont post the prices on websites..just wanted to know a little before calling any.. or atleast get a p-car first..

about the engine built..wat do ppl usually do?

I remember seeing a post about doing minor engine mods to p-cars to get 700whp.. for sure If Im going all out I want more..

my friends own a performance shop here.. so Im not that worried about labor.. they give me a good deal everytime..

I just thought about upgrading my car for a year now.. but havent decided yet.. but if I do upgrade.. I want something faster or alteast have the hp I have with my current one.. and some luxury

I kinda need it ofr everything...drag, street, track.....+ its my dream car..

Several companies do post prices for complete packages. Check TPC, AWE, EvoMS as all have pricing and what is included in their respective packages. All produce good streetable packages in the 700-800hp range. There may be others but I haven't noticed their pricing.

From my observation, it seems most people don't go as far as you say you want to. For those that do want to go beyond an exhaust and ecu tune, there is a the upgraded VTG turbo and better intercoolers. That'll usually get you in the 700hp range. For more than that you'll have to go to special turbos and start strengthening the internal engine bits. Now you'll be talking about double your $20k and the list of good choices start to dwindle. Oh, and as the car becomes even crazier fast it also becomes a little less civilized so you'll have to judge when you've had enough.

All I'll say is read the forums and you'll soon get a more accurate story of what needs to be done for each hp level. Believe the consensus, not the individual.

Are they qualified on Porsches? This is a different beast than your American V8 or Japanese turbo 6. Make a mistake with one of these engines and it WILL be VERY COSTLY!

Get one first and live with it for a little while before making any decisions. It is a VERY fast car right off the showroom floor.

I don't know what you have but unless it's a ZR-1, GT-R, Gallardo, or something of that ilk a 997tt will impress you with how fast it is and in such a civilized way.

Thanx for the reply!

I was asaking about the engine built..cuz I saw ppl upgrade a valve or ring or something... a mod that needs for these cars anything over 600whp.. cant seem to find it.. it was a common mod..

Dont really like awe and evo cuz I had bad experience with them in the past...

guess I need some more time in the p-car forums..

Right now im driving a turbo M.. its fast and fun... but I never had a awd car..

Do ppl do the rear wheel conversion just b/c of weight?

or can the awd system handle the raised hp?

my friends have been working on euros for years.. and before used to work at a porsche independent shop... So I pretty much trust them working on my car..

btw, wat kinda mods do u have on ur car? ur car looks sick!

Any more photos?

For that kind of money u can with Protomotive bolt on Alpha 3076 kit.

The power should be HIGH 800awhp which equal 1000 crank hp

Proto dyno'ed 997 GT2 with same kit on stock intake style, stock/gutted exhaust, stock headers plus Proto 5"coolers and it made 870rwhp on hot dyno room ( around 90 degree )..The dyno sheet is here in the forum

I know it ran 60-130 in 5.2sec and it damn SPUN!!!

If u go with Proto exhaust and intake system u will gain more hp/tq of course.

BTW....stock engine should be fine
