Deamer, were you in a Tip car when you heard the drone at highway speed?

Did you try FVD's tune first? I'm curious what made you like the Protomotive tune over FVD's.

Never had FVD tune.

Todd.K is more supportive and revisions are included.

We all need to meet up at least once.

Thanks so much for the info, Dreamer...I have a Tip car that's usually between 2000 and 3000 rpm on the highway during my trips to Houston. I was hoping the drone would be slight enough that I can still talk to my passenger easily during the trip.

Thanks, venkatreddytx. I've heard great things about Protomotive so far. Your car seems to be a beast...I'd love to see it and meet you sometime.

I'll be at the next Cars and Coffee in April...and I won't make any purchases in the mean time so I can continue researching.

Thanks to everyone for their valuable input!
Cliff

jpw2b is infamous around these parts
Hi!
I did get the GMG exhaust and am very pleased. The sound is incredible and spool up seems quicker (although I admit it may be my imagination colored by the sound and fury...)
I consider the highway speed drone minimal. I have no trouble talking with passengers, talking in my Bluetooth, or listening to music or news on the radio.

Sorry I didn't get to complete my thoughts on it....
I will say that it is a bit loud especially at start-up/cold idle. I do hear from my wife how I wake up the kids when I leave early and that she can hear me go down our street. Still, no complaints from neighbors!
Interestingly, the cold idle is quite loud, but the regular idle once it switches down is not loud at all.

Again I am very pleased, but just know the car will no longer be "stealth". It is very sweet though and I can't wait to get it on the track in May!

Good luck!

My old Cargraphic exhaust was the same way, so I know what you mean.

Great, thanks for the extra info.

Regards,
Cliff

I picked up my car yesterday with the GMG exhaust and FVD flash installed, and its a totally different car. My experience driving is twice as enjoyable. I couldn't have asked for anything further regarding the exhaust, and the supposedly the flash is still learning. I'm dyno-ing it this weeks and RUF expects 440-450 to the wheels. It tends to turn over a bit more before starting, but I haven't driven it enough to know for sure. And I think radiator fan kicks on more at idle, thoughts?

As for the drone, yes there is a small amount but I expected it a little. RUF/RAC is have a Cars and Bikes meet on March 26, I'll be there.

cashed, thanks for the audition last week...and the throttle blip driving away sounded great, such a 'mean' car. would be nice to also hear it on a cold startup and get the full picture. funny you're only a few blocks away.

(the clear side indicators really fit your car too)
