Air box Yes or No
Well, some of the aftermarket ones are pretty
. I don't think any of the high hp applications do anything with the airbox except maybe change out to a BMC filter.
Champion makes the nicest looking aftermarket offering, IMO. But I think it's just engine bling

It depends on your mods, but even staying with the stock filter is good enough for modded vtg's. Esthetically the Werks1 airbox is a winner.
When mine was a evt700 I went from a stock filter to a BMC and noticed no difference in performance, slightly better sound when the turbos spool.
edit: I must type slow when women are around
I did not see Ed's response when I first started typing...

Has your car been out of the garage yet, Mike?

What about the turbo inlet ducting for the 997tt? Seems that there was some restriction in the 996tt ducting but I couldn't get an answer if it is the same restriction on the 997tt, anyone know?
But EVO does change out the inlet piping on the 'bigger' kits.
As far as the airbox goes it seems a lot of people including myself start with one (Agency) as it seems like an obvious 1st mod which maybe true with most cars but usually revert back to stock with BMC drop in filter which most tuners seem to recommend. There just seems to be no data to support any gains from these things except better sound, which is a good thing if thats what floats your boat

Early on I had replaced the airbox with Fabspeed's air intake system. I loved the sounds I started hearing and didn't care if it didn't add anything.
However, when the last mod's were done we dyno'ed the car with the Fabspeed air intake and the stock airbox with BMC. I was shocked to discover that the stock airbox with BMC showed an increase of 7hp and about 15tq over the Fabspeed air intake.
I don't quite get those lovely sounds no more...

I do think that the aftermarket airboxes do affect power output. That is, I could swear that they slightly reduce low-end torque. At least that seems true for the EVOMS and Fabspeed. But they sound great and might make up for the low end loss a bit on the high end.
Definitely not a good use of money though. If I was doing it all over again, I'd swap the filter and move on.

. I promise I will get seat time in January.
