Finally Found My Turbo
Some Questions (of course)
- Where is there any indication or switching for the rear diff lock?
- I'm not sure I like the short shifter. Can an average schmoe swap it out?
- I've been told that the original owner of this car is Max Ingram. Paging Max... are you on the forum?
- Will a 2mm chip in the windshield (driver's side) fail on a state inspection?
- If so, should I try to fill it before I take it in for the inspection (so I don't have to replace the windshield)?
Swapping the shifter is a little bit painful, but doable. There are a few DIY's here.
congrats! I (and others) told you that driving the car home would be the best day ever!!
As Ruf_turbo said, spend some time with the short shifter and try to find a std. one to drive before you swap it out. I LOVE the short shifter and have driven the std. one.
How long before all the modding questions start?! You're lucky, you have TPC Racing right in your backyard.

Great car, nice options. You also have the lower part of the rear apron painted which was not on your option list. Usually all three options are done together-the front lip, side skirts and the lower part of the rear apron underneath the three open slats on the rear. I spent 7 months looking for mine and also found a 2007 Turbo, GT Silver, loaded, with 1800 miles on it! The GT silver is awesome
As one of the 5,491 members, let me be the first to say thank god and congratulations
There is no switch for the diff lock.
I haven't done it, but I believe the average schmoe can change out the shifter.
Check your insurance regarding the glass. They may fill it in without paying a deductable.

Exactly, couldnt have said it better myself.
Congrats - drive it in good health. Great color but I'm a bit biased. Most people go the other way with the shifter. As others have said, drive the regular shifter if possible and live with this one for a while before doing anything. Your purchase has been a saga for all of us.
Congrats, I got mine last year. Best advice I could give you is resist the urge to mod for a few months. Drive the car and although it seems perfect now, see what you find worth improving after a couple months. Since your in MD, visit TPC and just ask their input re: mods, based on your driving. Then wait some more, and come up with a plan. That's what I did, and I'm very happy. In the end, I did the suspension, flash and tune, then wheels 6 months later, then added EP2 exhaust and headers a year later. Car is terrific and I'll be keeping mine a long time. When I come back from a business trip and drive it to work (I use it as a DD), I'm always surprised by how much I enjoy driving it.
