Just curious jasont, what dealer quoted you that price?

I pretty much do most of my own wrenching that I can (did my plugs/coils last winter) and although I haven't had to do the brake pads on my 07 yet, it's bound to be as easy as other cars I've done it on..

Based on prices online for the gen-you-ine Porsche pads, that a lot of $ for labor..
I guess *somebody* has to pay for the free espresso in the waiting room..

Thanks everyone,

Sounds like going with the stock pads is the best choice.

Has anyone tried any aftermarket or track pads?

My 08 997tt is in for some warranty repairs and the dealer says the pads are still fine at 50%; however, I have seen it suggested on here many times that you should replace them at 50% to lengthen the rotor life.

They are quoting:

$1140 pads and labor for the front
$1200 pads and labor rear

Seems excessive to me - anyone find an aftermarket pads for the ceramic brakes you would recommend?

Use an Independent shop. I paid $1,076 for parts $330 for labor. It included front and back pads and sensors, flushing brake fluid also. I had 47,500 miles and was down to an approximate 30% left

How about TRW PCCB pads any good for a DD and no tracking?
I don't want to ruin the rotors with non-OEM pads if they're no good.

IIRC pads are 13mm, wear sensors are at 3mm so I'd say at around 7 to 8 mm is approx 50%
