One thing to keep in mind is your experience level at the track. I just started doing track days last spring and being so new it really took some time before I wore my Toyos R888s down. I got a lot more heat cycles because I was not pushing the car as much. As my experienced improved I went through the tires more quickly. However I am still at a point where I get a fair amount of use out of the Toyos.

I also drove over 200 miles back and forth to a track more then 3 or 4 times and that did little to wear the Toyos despite everyone saying that would waste them. I use the stock tires and wheels when I am not doing track days.

I forgot to answer the question about how many track days. I would say 12-16 heat cycles driving pretty hard with the Toyos R888 which works out to about 3-5 track days.

I would say that the same would be for the Corsas N1. Bear in mind that this is a brand new tire and has different pattern to the old NO. Also its no longer L,R.

I got just over 40 heat cycles out of my last set of Toyo 888's.

I wonder how hard is the compound of those toyos compared to the corsas or MSCP to last so many track miles..?

I did look it up one time - will do it again later when I have time but I vaguely recall there was some difficulty with finding equivalent exact size tires for comparison with others in my table.
Anyway, I vaguely recall the Hoosier comes out the same as the Pirelli Corsa and Michelin cup -- very light. I only didn't add it to my weight comparison because it's more of a track only tires (will do later).

Question for the expert here please: Is Hoosier considered more of a semi-slick, and not really an R compound, street legal tire?

Update of weight table, with Hoosier R6 included, courtesy www.tirerack.com . Note that I could only find 315/30-19 for the Hoosier, not the stock 305/30-19.

Here is my informal tire weight ranking, courtesy of Tire Rack's Tires for Porsche 997 Turbo 235/35-19 front, 305/30-19 rear (pls pardon and correct any mistake).

The number in bold are the weights of one front plus one rear tire:
Michelin Cup: front/rear 20/27 = 47 lbs
Pirelli Corsa: 21/26 = 47
Continental Extreme Contact DW: 21/28 = 49
Hoosier R6 (not street tire, 315/30-19 rear): 22/27 = 49
Michelin PS2: 22/28 = 50
Continental SportContact 3: 22/28 = 50
Pirelli Rosso: 22/29 = 51
Bridgestone RE050A: 24/31 = 55
Hantook Ventus V12: 24/32=56
Toyo R888: 25/31 = 56
Bridgestone RE11: 27/31 = 59

Interesting, no? A weight difference of 24 lbs, such as from Michelin/Pirelli cup to Bridgestone RE11, cannot and should not be ignored. Another interesting example: a Turbo with iron brake and RE11 will have what, close to 60 lbs. more in unsprung weight than one with PCCB and Michelin Cup?
I am surprised that in my reading of tire comparisons on various forums, I've not run across more discussions of this extremely important parameter of tire weight. Does no one CARE about precession?

Can, thanks for the update...as usual great info. I'm still curious about running 295X30's on rear vs. 305 or 315's. They are significantly less expensive ( $80+ per tire ) than the larger size. Anyone???

My .02 for Nitto NT-01. I use separate wheels/tires for the track and street. In fact, I have been using my winter wheels (18in) and trading the winter tires for the NT-01s for the summer then swapping out on track days. The NT-01 are DOT legal so I can swap at home, even a couple of days before or after. Also, the 18 in (225/40/18 and 275/40/18) have reasonably close radius to stock setup. Lasted 4 full DE days with over 3 hrs track time each day. Best part: about $800 total for all 4!

I am like Cannga and was trying to decide what tire/wheel combo to run on my turbo and looked at the weight difference between the different makes and the price gap. I decided on HRE P43's and the RE 11's and have run autocross, many track days and at the dragstrip as well and actually to lazy to change out my tire/wheels and run them everywhere and I will buy another set of the RE 11's when I wear these out!

PS 27 plus 31 is 58 ( still too heavy but not very noticable )

When I've run R6 Hoohoos , they have always been 18s, gt3 cup qualifying tires with only a few heat cycles in them. Many pro teams will gladly sell them to you. Yes, they are slicks, with only one rain channel. Completely non-street legal.
