I was invited to the MP4-12C unveiling in DFW and went to see what it was all about.

Wanted to see if this car would make me change my mind of wanting a F458.

Non VTG turbos, cast manifolds

Let me say afterwords decided to pursue getting a F458.

 

just curious REASON/please elaborate further? can't dispute these crazy numbers. i too am also looking @ 458/12C (waiting for Spyder versions tho from both) TIA for reply

Like John stated it does not look as good as the 458 and why use cast manifold vs equal length headers, cheapness I guess makes me wonder where else they went cheap.

 

did u enquire with McLaren rep about manifold? what was reply if any. i thought full exhaust system made of Inconel which isn't CHEAP. i should kno i have inconel on my tt and it was $$$$

 

The inconel exhaust is an option and is turbo back only and does not include the headers.
I did point to the headers and ask why cast and not equal length and he did not have an answer.

 

MP4-12C should be a sweet ride,performance and looks.
a very close friend of mine is in England right now cause hes goin to be the head tech for Mclaren in the East Coast.
And for those who like the 458,its a great looking car but id take an F430 scuda over it any day.
458 got some problems cause its still a brand new car while the F430 is free of all that.But every person got his own taste.

Theres more than that that u dont hear about, wiring issues and the lights just shut off while driving and cluster goin dead.
im at the Ferrari dealer daily and got friends that own 458s and they r trading them for something else.

 

finally someone telling it like it is THNX!!!!!!! i dont care how beautiful it (458) looks (i like the DINO way better) if it only works some of the time you can have it. im hoping 12C hits it out of the park on reliability like the NSX did for Acura.
