Upgraded ECU with Softronic
I am very interested, and I see the benefits of flashing. But if you drive hard, what other than the normal wear and tear items potentially have issues? Lord knows I don't want to pop a TT.
There is not 1 person to my knowledge that has blown a motor with Softronic from a basic flash. Softronic retains the factory knock control and engine safety features. Your only wear and tear item is the clutch which is directly related to how you drive. You could say the brakes and tires would wear too. We have maps for 91 or 93octane for most customers.

I had absolutely no problem uploading the tuned map. It took less than 5 mins. I was very mindful of the instructions so as not to fry the DME. I had the battery charger on and the battery was at 90% before I started. The laptop I used was attached to a power source and any potential interruption was eliminated (screen savers, virus scan, sleep mode etc.). I get terrible wireless connection in my garage (even with 5 access points in my house) so I have a 500ft cat5 cable that went directly from the main router to the laptop in the garage.
I have been in the computer & mobile hardware / software businesses for many years and have fried phones and laptops by being impatient and trying to bypass proper precautions. By following the procedures that the Softronic team sent me I had no issue uploading the tuned map.
What's even better is that the car is so much more fun to drive - and it was fun to drive in the first place.

I'm very careful person, was following all instructions to the T first time. Even took some pictures first time I was doing it, attached here, that's how careful I am... And I still had problem.
You can read quality reviews of customers that have flashed their 997 Turbo here - http://www.vrtuned.com/

I will definitely be considering this upgrade (in a few years) when I get my next gen turbo. Can someone tell me if the claims that pushing the new motor over 550hp can cause catastrophic failure of pistons and rods is true?
Completely false. If an additional 50hp causes a catastrophic engine failure then that would mean the .2 Turbo engine is running within 9% safety margin, which is certainly not the case.
Dan, Scott
I'm merely offering advice from someone who has been down the obd2 port flash, bricked ecu, and readiness codes not set road.
There is nothing wrong with the ST, Fvd, proto flashes , just offering a headsup for guys having their 5cars inspected yearly, Aka NY. I assume it's an easy adjustment.

Scott, one of your 'vendors' has made that point several times that ST manipulates the threshold o2 sensors , in order to avoid CELs. You should probably correct that vendor. I've mentioned this with several flashes, not just ST.
Yes, the readiness codes from the OP would be nice.

Catalytic converter efficiency Pass
Fuel tank ventilation Pass
Secondary air system Pass
Oxygen sensors Pass
Oxygen sensor heater Pass
I've attached a screenshot
Car was turned on and engine was idling when I took this.
As I said, car was turned on, engine was turning over - no revving just idling when I started up the Durametrix application and began looking at the data. The ready status was Pass for all 5 items shown.
PS. I like your wheels - what are they?

I am running 800+BHP on the stock motor. 13000 miles.
