First time Porsche owner
Hi all,
I recently aquired a very low mileage, certified, 07 911 turbo. Never owned a Porsche before (previous ride was an SL 65). I love it so far
!! It has the tiptronic S and so i had some questions that I was hoping some of you could answer:
1) When in Manual mode, when is the best time to shift for maximum acceleration? 6000 rpm? Do you treat it like a "real" manual i.e, upshift and downshift?
2) The front lip has already been chewed up substantially in my first week of ownership! What's the best way to go up and down driveways without scraping the hell out of it? Or do you just accept it and replace it every 6 months?
3) I'm in Orange County, Ca. Can anybody recommend a quality factory approved service place? The only one I know of is the Porsche dealership in Newport Beach.
Thanks and look forward to some fun driving!!

Congrads. Nothing like starting at the top of the food chain. The tips are pretty fool proof. They are designed to keep you out of trouble. The paddles are more for downshifting than upshifting as the ECU will give you the optimum upshifts. The front air damn are problematic. PCNA lists them as a "wear part" just like brake pads. Best is to attack driveways and speed bumps at an sharp angle. This drives other people in parking lots crazy, but so what. OC has a huge group of non-factory service providers. GMG prolly the best known.
Congrats!!

As far as the shop goes, BBI Autosport in Huntington Beach and RSS/Stuttgart Performance in Costa Mesa are both great shops to get either basic maintenance or modding/tuning done at.
I don't see a need to take it to a dealer for basic maintenance issues.

Does it void the warranty, potentially, if the basic service is not done by a factory approved place? (For instance, a year from now, a major engine failure occurs and Porsche won't cover it because they didn't do the basic service). I know Mercedes were real sticklers for that.
Thanks
