Look what I brought home this weekend! Here is my brief journey to this car:
I had a 2003 996TT for 7 years and while I read that many people regret selling them I fell into making the same mistake last year. The smoke and mirrors about PDK and Panamera platform got me excited and last summer I bought a 2011 Panamera. I loved the car but got very frustrated with lack of excitement and driver engagement that I felt in 996TT. PDK specifically drove me nuts. The PDK's hesitation when starting on intersections, the default shifting into 7th speed at 35 mph and automatic downshifting even in the manual mode made me wonder if a regular slash box automatic is better than PDK. I sold Panamera few weeks ago and felt relieved. No PKD ever again for me! Happy for those who think that PDK is the next best thing.
Getting back into 6 speed manual was like coming home or meeting an old friend.
I look forward to being part of this forum.

Beautiful car. I love the the 5 spoke rims with the white. Did you get sport chrono? The only negative thing about the new gen 6 speed turbo according to my sales guy is that you are through and out of first gear almost before you can blink. Did you get a good discount off sticker??

Thanks! Yes I have Sport Chrono and I know you can potentially use it even the 6 speed manual for launching the car but one got to be quick with the first gear. Unless on a drug strip there no need for Launch Control in my view.

I am happy with deal I got, but I did shop around and got a feel for the current market.

You shouldn't have driven it in auto mode...should have put in manual/sport plus and the 997.2 Turbo is great.

 

Thanks. I tried PDK in manual/Sport Plus - found it to be a bit too aggressive for the street, in Sport and Normal PDK in manual does not shift fast enough especially when in short first gear. I learned to hit the upshift button in anticipation that it will take some time for PDK to get ready and shift but it's like playing a game with the car computer rather than directly communicating with a mechanical beast with your left foot.

 

Congrats, great car, like the Alcantara, I'm 100% with you on the stick, it is after all a sports car.
