The SC adds even greater additional mid range torque to a flash making a LOT more overall power output than that same flash will with out SC.

So it is imperative to have a sport chrono option to squeeze every last bit of engine tuning performance from your flash software.

SC has no impact on flash tune...in fact the overboost feature and the throttle mapping parts of SC usually are overridden by the flash. Even SC without a flash adds no additional power except when in overboost and only then with increased torque.

^^ True. A flahsed SC adding more power than a non-SC optioned car with a flash is a misconception.

^^That is true. However with Sorts Chrono you have the option of being able to mix it up a bit, ie: Normal mode can have a more moderate boost setting with a regular or slightly higher sensitivity to the throttle.....still very powerful and satisfying for the majority of driving situations, and then you can have another completely different tune setting for the Sports mode with a higher boost level and a more sensitive throttle response etc.

I wish the 911 were more straight forward.

Is the 911 Turbo a sports car or not? Do you ever want moderate power or all the power? It's like the BMW M5/M6 having an iDrive setting for the amount of power it can deliver.

I can't think of any driving situation when I don't want all the power and the best throttle response.

I agree with wanting all the power all the time. But the throttle response is a little twitchy for city driving imho when in sport mode, more so with the tune than stock.

Good points. Compared to my previous atmo P cars I find the 911 turbo is car that has so much power you rarely get the chance on the street to let it off its leash. That can be a bit frustrating at times. So, spicing up the driving experience as much as possible ie: manual box, a bit of variation in the modes etc all adds to the fun and general experience. Naturally if you're in a situation where you have an opportunity that allows full use of the maximum power setting and you can use the super edgy throttle to your advantage Sports mode is only the push of a button away. I find with my existing tune set up where normal isn't so trigger happy its a nice combo to have plus the extra power it has is way more than sufficient. Having the two modes does allow you to have a very edgy sporty throttle response without having to put up with it in regular driving situations where a more regular setting is more comfortable to use. Without SC i think you'd be looking more for a compromise particularly in the throttle response/pedal sensitivity dept. If i wished i could change both settings to max power and just change pedal sensitivity too....maybe one day. Sometimes "less is more", but not in this case i find.

My sentiments exactly. I guess since I don't have normal mode I don't notice anything unusual. My "SC equivalent" flashed tune is smoother than stock.

My SC package with EVOMSit adds a lot more boost and a lot more power when sports mode engaged..

it is quite tamer in "normal" mode with SC off...and consumes much less fuel.

Would EVOMS please chime in and explain what is exactly happening with their tune and sport chrono?

I also live in a city and my clutch is smoother when SC is not engaged. The car feels less twitchy. Its not that it changes the clutch feel (it doesn't) but the mapping is different and it allows for more relaxed driving in stop and go traffic. Once I am out of the city the SC is always engaged. My car is completely stock (for now). Its great that we have that option.

Yes, that is true. However, for a non-SC optioned car with a flash, the tuner can install the "SC" map so that you have it all the time. No need to push the sport button, just the pedal. So in the end, the non-SC flashed car is equivalent to an SC optioned flashed car in terms of the tune and power.

See how it feels once you put on the upgraded VTGs It should be silky smooth even with SC on.
