I'm sure it is an OEM part. I bought the vehicle from Taylorcoleman and he said the turbo wing was taken from his 997 turbo. He had it repainted, but I'm sure they tried to repaint the slats on the inside as well. I wonder if I would be able to take paint thinner to remove the paint and reveal the plastic slats underneath?

I've had some experience with repainting the rear decklid on a turbo. Most will cover the slats then paint over it, leaving what's behind uncovered.

Take some warm water and car soap/PS21/something similar and spray it back there, then try and use a microfiber towel and wipe. Lets see if it is just overspray from a rotary buffer or sander.

Here is a "spare" decklid I happen to have (don't ask me why I have it, lol)...

You can try removing the rear fan and reaching up there to see if you can wipe away what you see. Pictured below is the decklid minus the fan...you can reach in the space between the vent slats and the inner shroud (which is fused with the decklid - can't remove it separately.)

I went back out there there to inspect the decklid again. It is indeed overspray because I can see the plastic in the lowest slat. What is a good product that I can use that will remove paint from the plastic slats without damaging the plastic?

This is probably a question for the detailer's in the detailing section.

Over spray as in primer over spray?

I guess before I grabbed a solvent, I'd tape the slats with blue painters tape, and try something like a clay bar to see if that does anything.

Well, I guess they did not tape it off and they primed and painted the inside slats as well. Thanks for your help. I will post in the Detailing section to see if I can get an answer.
