Issue with Rottec LED tail light. Any suggestions?
Alright folks I have determined it is indeed the driver's side light that is faulty. I swapped the driver and passenger side Rottec units as soon as I got home and this time it was that same driver's side light that did not work when connected to the passenger side harness. I have contacted Ray and am hoping to get a good unit by expediated shipping. Just my luck that I would receive a set that is bad. Even when ordering the lights from the group buy I sent Ray an email before leaving on vacation and it somehow slipped through the cracks (never received a set). And let's not mention (again) the nightmare I went through in getting a 997 turbo in the first place...
Got the email. I think it would be very nice if you are willing to eat the cost of two day shipping so I can have the replacement light on Saturday. Otherwise it will be a week via ground.
I would think is only fair for him to do so...
!
Normally we have to file a warranty claim with factory for any defected lights and it can take 1-2 weeks. To speed up the turn around process, we take a one from our inventory and do more testing and deal with factory our own. Your replacement will be sent out this afternoon base on what we discuss from email and hope you will have better luck on this one
!
!Well one would also think that normally when purchasing a new set of lights they would arrive with no errors especially when it is the main draw to your product/marketing. Again I think it would be nice if you can get them to me by Saturday versus shipping them ground, but I don't think that is going to happen.
Really? You think having one light and having to wait for another working light to complete the "pair" he should appreciate your effort?
I am always amazed at companies that try to save a few $$ but miss the big picture. I wonder how many forum members will read this thread? Does a penny wise pound foolish mean anything? Im my business I make sure the customer is happy......
I guess what I am saying is that you would look really good to the members here if you sent the light via expedited shipping. I know I would appreciate the gesture and this would certainly affect my decision when I decide to buy the lights (and other products).

Wow funny that this thread was revived just now. I was looking at my tails last night and noticed that the fog light bulb on the drivers side is ALWAYS on. wtf? It is quite dim, but always on. Of course if I put the rear fog light on then it is very bright. But should the damn bulb always be on? Doesn't seem like it should to me. Anyone else?
If you havn't already done so, PM Ray.

Has it always been on since you first installed? These lights can be difficult to install since it requires switching bulb connectors from OEM to the new lights and it wasn't helped when the first set of instructions were wrong. With 5 connectors maybe the connectors got mixed up and are in the wrong holes. Here's a picture from the owner's manual showing what goes where.
Are you using the red bulb that Ray supplied for the fog light? If so maybe some of the liquid tape he has covering one of the contacts has worn off and you're getting some current through that contact.
