Shopping for an '09 Turbo Cab - advice?
Shopping for an '09 Turbo Cab - advice?
I'm currently in an '07 C4S with some great mods. I'm itching for a change and the wife wants a cab (taking the GT3 out as an option). My local dealer is expecting an incoming '09 Turbo Cab - triple black with 6,000 miles. I don't have the option list yet and we haven't gotten to price until he has it in his hands...it was originally sold in town (1 owner) and the current owner is going to order a Turbo S.
My questions are -
1. What are the big differences between '08s, '09s, and '10s (HP, engine modifications, key options, etc)?
2. When I bought the C4S, I made sure it was CPO'd - which definitely paid for itself with RMS and transmission issues. I want to do the same with the next purchase but is there anything I should be looking out for?
3. What is an appropriate price range? I understand it has to do with options, mileage, condition, etc but any thoughts on where I should be? Same question as I trade in the C4S (27k mi)- what ballpark should I be in for the difference?
4. It took some time for me to find the C4S. I was wary of purchasing sight unseen and waited until something in town showed up. I'm thinking that I should be waiting until the winter to pick something up (especially a cab) to get the best deal (I'm in NY). At the same time, if this car meets my expectations and I can get a fair price, I feel like I can't pass it up because there are not a lot of options in my market. Thoughts?
Is there anything else I'm missing?
Thanks in advance for your insight.

It looks like that should go quickly though.
08-10 main thing will be PDK and price. Since you want a 6 speed then the big difference is going to be price between those model years.
I would think a nicely optioned CPOed 09 will be upper 90's to low 100's.

I'd like to be in the 90's with very high 50's/$60k for mine. I'd like to know more about what people are paying.
I paid 98 for my 2009 TT coupe at the end of June. MSRP on it was $140. Black on black with most of the good options (sports chrono, aluminum shifter, handbrake, heat seats, adaptive seats, XM, ipod, bluetooth). It was not cpo but had 2 years of warranty left. If you can get a CPO'ed 2009 cab in the 90's, i think you are doing really good on price.
Drive the PDK. I was also looking for a manual until I drove the PDK. Espscially in a Turbo it make a huge difference. You do not loose any boost between gear changes in the PDK. It allows you to focus on your line and although I like the manual tranny in the past-I do not miss it for a second.

08 has old engine, suspension and old PCM so ipod & bluetooth are add ons.
09 has old engine, suspension but new PCM.
10 on has new DFI engine; engine mounts and new suspension - reviews give it a + - and the new PCM.
1st and 2nd are amazing in the 6 speed - don't flinch!

To those recommending PDK - I don't doubt that it's an unbelievable transmission but I'm really looking for something with 3 pedals. With so many cars going full automatic (Ferrari's, P Turbo S, etc), I want to take advantage of the fun to heel and toe as long as I'm physically able.
Thanks again for the info.
'09 introduces ventilated seats option, provides XM radio standard, and has new headlights. FYI - Adding Sat. radio to an '08 appears to run about $1K, assuming the '08 has PCM2 (Navtv.com).
Here's a 6speed write up on the 'upgrade':

Re price, I've been keeping an eye on 08' & '09 (asking) prices for some time.
'08 Cabs seem to be priced +/- $90-$110K, with many in the +/- $103/4K range. I know of a nicely equipped black '08 6speed for sale at an asking price that's in the high $90's. (edit: No CPO).. No affiliation - PM me. Lot's of black ones around.
'09's I've seen are in the $105 to high teens. Most > $110K.
Both of these ranges are optimistic IMO, and of course, subject to negotiation.
I've been sniffing the ground for a CPO '09 Cab with vented seats, multi-function wheel, Ad. sport seats in silver/GT for quite a while..Just when you think you've found the perfect one, it has a blue interior or something.

Best of luck on your search.
