"Essential" options for a 997tt?
Hi, following is what I up graded,
-L Audio amplifier for component speakers F/R (HD600/4)
-JL Audio amplifier for sub-woofer components (HD750)
-JL Audio 8"sub-woofers (pair) in custom designed enclosure fitted to rear deck (stealth)
-JL Audio summing module (CL441dsp) used for OEM speaker output
-JL Audio processing module (CL-ssi) used for correcting OEM signal
-Focal component speakers front (KR2-165)
-Focal component speakers rear (KR130)
-Installation accessories (power and signal interconnects, build materials, leather trim ETC
-Custom labor for installation and build-out(formed sub-box w/OEM style trim, custom amp mounting ETC)
it costs about $5k for the system and another $5k for labors. it is well worth it and I am very happy with it

I agree with the other posts re: navi, sports chrono (for resale), and I really like the crispness of the 6speed transmission. Definitely the best manual tranny I have ever had the chance to drive.
The one must have for me is bluetooth phone interface which is why i paid the extra $ for a 2009 versus an 07/08. I take a lot of work calls at 6:30 to 8 AM in the morning with europe and china and having the integrated bluetooth is fantastic. The background noise cancelling works well and the people on the other end can hear me without significant road noise.

On another note, I may have found a semilocal car that has pretty much everything I want other than the rear diff.
This was my shopping list +1 on resale value:
Options:
Must have set in concrete:
6 speed transmission
heated seats
Seats (the fancier the better, like adaptive sport seats)
sport Chrono package Turbo
standard turbo aluminum wheels (after market will be considered on an individual basis)no curb rash!
(2009) must have Bluetooth interface for telephone and Universal audio interface
Highly desirable:
limited slip rear differential lock
three spoke wheel with multifunction controls
ventilated seats
Clear bra on bumper or equivalent (shows that PO cared)
Would not mind:
rocker panel and lip painted in body color
sport shifter
6 disc CD changer
Bi-xenon lights
full leather interior
LoJack
would rather not have these Options, but not a dealbreaker:
PCCB ceramic brakes (maint costs)
parking assist (looks)
aluminum hardtop (who needs it in CA)
XM Radio
extensive interior decoration (carbon fiber etc.) used to jack up the price

Amazing that you nailed every single option that I consider must have. Just a few comments:
1. PCCB: Must try once in a life time - unless you track the car often. If you ever wonder what it feels like to be stopped by the hands of God... Also, 35 lbs less unsprung weight all 4 corners.
2. 6 speed vs. Auto: strictly personal preference.
3. Rear diff lock: so cheap as an option and must be some royal pain in the derriere to add afterwards; shame on Porsche to have this as an option on a 120k car!
4. Short shifter: not *that* critical because this could be added for only a few hundred bucks. In addition, it is fun to try the standard long one, THEN switch to be amazed by how different, and better, the shorter one feels.
5. Thick 3 spoke steering wheel: must have because it is very expensive to add later on. Feel much nicer than the multi function thinner and larger steering wheel.
6. Bose - doesn't this come standard in Turbo??? Anyway, not the best, but much better than the non-Bose standard system. (I am a pretty nutty audiophile.)
7. Adaptive Seat - very much a must have.
8. SC - affects MANY systems and components, not just engine. A must as obvious from the many functions it does below, some impossible to duplicate by tuners - but now could be added for around what, 1500?
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...oes-sc-do.html
1. PSM (decreased with Sport Mode --- less intrusive)
2. PASM (increased with Sport Mode --- stiffer dampening)
3. PTM (the 4WD system becomes more rearward bias -- more power to rear)
4. TCU -- Tiptronic (more "sporty" shift pattern)
5. ECU (increased turbo boost)
6. ETC (more responsive electronic throttle control)
Interestingly enough, when my car was at GIAC for the custom tune with chassis dyno, I may be wrong but I believe the tune for max power was done with Sport Chrono on. I would tend to think (anyone pls corrects as needed)that if you do NOT have a custom tune (i.e. a generic off the shelf), it's best to find out how the tune was programmed, and safer yet, IMHO best to have Sport Chrono. At least in cars with GIAC, the highest power is likely with Sport Chrono on.
