Good place for wheel alignment in Orange County, Ca
Dealership in Newport Beach just quoted me $345 for 4-wheel alignment! Question: does that normally come with a lap dance? I had an SL 65 and the alignment was only a $100 at the dealership. Anybody know a good place in orange county that will do it for less? I don't track my car so I don't need a "race" alignment. Just commuting with an occaisonal ridiculous accerlation
I've only had the car (07 997TT) for 4 months (5000 miles) but the rear tires (Mich PS 2) are already worn down on the insides. Is that to be expected?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply skeeter,
No my car is not lowered. Bone stock. It was a CPO car but I'm sure they don't check the alignment when they do their "thorough" inspection
. I will call them tomorrow and check their prices. Should I mention your name? (PM me if you think it would help).
Thanks

Never take your car to Darren at West End. He hacked up my install, alignment, and corner balance pretty good. BBI had to undo his mess and fix it. You want it done right, you take it to BBI..
$300 is what I paid at indy shop here in Portland. Dealer wanted $350 or something. It's crazy, but I couldn't find another place I trusted that charged less... I will guess that the reputable shops mentioned above all want something in the $300 range...
Re: your tires, were they new when you got the car? If not, adding on an extra 5K miles (since you got it) may very well have gotten you worn down to cords on the inside of your tires. The camber on the rears is definitely going to predispose to wear on inside egde - and that is with normal spec camber. When I switched out my wheels this spring, I had only 6K miles on the car, and the inside edge was looking worn (not quite yet needing replacement, but not a lot left on the tread, either). After my H&R spring install, they did an alignment - and didn't have to change much to stay in spec...

Thanks guys for all the recommendations. Some of the places came back higher than the dealer ($375 to $675 at BBI)!! To answer some questions, when I bought the car, I don't think the tires were brand new and placed by the dealer but were probably on the car when they received it and met their cutoff for acceptable tread for a CPO car. So I'm not sure but I can't imagine the tires had more than a total of 7K miles on them. Is that amount of life to be expected with 911TT's?
Assuming you don't track the car, 10k mi for the rears and double that for the front is a good estimate for stock set up tire life.
