Not that familiar with 996 platform but I highly doubt it since 996t uses a single pump. For 997t, second pump kicks on via relay when more fuel is needed.

I am wondering if anyone already tried to use that obviously more powerful 997 pumps completely in that plastic sump-cage to replace the 996 pump an get in twist-snapped in the 996 fuel tank bottom and connected? Both seem to be the same supplier company and powering both pumps all the time shouldn't harm anything.
Would personally like such a solution a lot more than inline 2nd pump near engine.

i'm no expert, but i'd say this depends entirely upon who is handling the trash pickup in your area. but the budget sounds realistic. good luck with it!
