Quality time with my beauty (pics), how do you keep the dust off now?
I finally got around to spending some quality time with my dream car, now 4 weeks with me. It is dedinitely a dream come true, what a great car and then a monster when you want it. In my previous post I indicated I convinced my wife it takes six hours to wash the car. But the very first time it took quite a bit longer. Being black and having 3 1/2 years of scratches I needed a buffer. I used the Griot products for the first time including the one step sealant. Using a random orbital for the first time in my life I'm amazed at how easy the job was. And the results are really great. All in all it took me 14 hours just on the exterior. There sure are a lot of nooks and crannies that are painted on the TT.

Now I'm working on getting leather care products because there are so many leather surfaces to maintain on the interior. My previous car only had leather seats. I tried Griots, but it turns out I'm extremely allergic to it sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes so I'll go with Moe's recent recommendation of leatherique. Hoping to get this done in less than eight hours, yikes, I'll pay the price for a nice build: leather interior, seat backs, door release, sun visors, rear console and the seats of course..
With with black I'm going to struggle with dust. I'll try the wool duster from Moe, and not a wax impregnated one. I discovered you shouldn't really cover the car each day at the office because it'll trap and drag road dirt. Now I understand why my previous car, covered daily every summer for the last 9 years, has a light dose of micro scratches. Any other suggestions to keeping it clean other than washing every week? I may still end up covering it and buffering once a year. Just love the covered look, like you washed it yesterday...
Note: the products mentioned are my selections, not recommendations, that will come after a year of use.
Enjoy the pictures in my 6speed album link, some of you may recognize the location in the Bay Area.

Black is not a color it is a full time job!
Good luck, your car is beautiful but the more you touch black the worse it is. I just got rid of a Daily Driver that was flat black so I feel your pain. My 911 is white and that has its own challenges (read tar, fresh asphault, bugs) but the daily dust is not a major issue.
Enjoy it and it certianly looks like you know how to make is shine. There is no color that looks better than Polished and sealed flat black!

Congrats on your beauty! I'm having the same problem with my mistress... Dust, dust and more dust. Even just sitting in the closed garage the dust seems to magically appear on her.
What I've been doing if I'm in a hurry, or too lazy to wash her, is park her outside and use an electric leaf blower to get most of the dust off. Works on the interior too, just make sure you have no loose objects in the car.

One of the biggest problems all cars run into after a wash, buff, LSP is static. Try switching to an all cotton non-microfiber towel for your wipe down after you've removed your LSP. Use Dodo Juice Red Mist in it's Tropical version:

Here's an article about it:

Lastly, plan on letting your leather sit over night and heat up the interior as much as possible while the Leatherique has time to do it's job:

Thanks all for the great advice. @berndindallas, Leaf blower on the interior, reminds me of Bill Murray in Caddyshack, LOL
one of my favorite clips in all of movie history, but it should work, Thanks.
@drsullivan thanks for the great links. So does Dodo cut static better than Z8? I have a bunch of Z8 left as I used Zaino on my previous car.

Z8 is a great product. I feel it is a little more difficult to apply when temps are higher than 85. Both are about the same price per ounce. I do not know about the static issue between products, but microfiber will increase static.
