Unusual roll cage question
Update.
Ok, I've learned a few things. First, it was the GMG RSR roll bar that I was talking about - not a cage. This is in the works.
I've also learned that getting GT3 seats in a custom color (terracotta) is a real challenge. The best plan seems to buy a slightly used black leather GT3 seat (found, this is taken care of) and have it upholstered in terracotta.

One black and one tettacotta seat - would be kind of weird.
Here are some pics of my 997.1TT with GT2 seats and a GMG Roll Bar (WC):
These bars render the backseat area pretty much useless, however, maybe it is placebo, but the car feels a bit more tight/stiff on the road/track. I am very happy with the final product (though I will never try to install this by myself again...)

Roll bars and cages are great in track cars where you are always wearing a helmet. In a street car, should you be involved in a minor incident and your unprotected head bounces off a metal bar, you're dead or worse. I have struggled with this issue for the past couple of seasons and can't bring myself to install one in my car that sees regular street use. Just something to think about.
Great photos
Mllarson - great photos. I'd definitely go with the GT2 seats (!), that fold forward, if I had deeper pockets. Keeping one stock seat (to fold forward - and to keep my wife comfortable), and the fact that the GT3 seats move forward a bit will hopefully give me some access to the back seat to store some of my gear (I have a cargo box which helps a lot). I went with the RSR which will leave a bit more space between the bars (uses other design ideas than the extra parallel bar for stiffnes and safety) to slide small bags through. I'm looking forward to the extra stiffness and connection to the car.
As far as I know it's not possible hit your head on the bars with daily driving - but if you could, your right, - OUCH. It should be all good.
Just waiting for the order to come in and have it painted to match my exterior (Altas Gray). And then, wait for the snow to melt so I can head south from Alberta to SoCal again to have some fun with Speed Ventures. I will post some photos when it gets installed.
Thanks for all the helpful info and photos. How do you keep the back seat and window clean with the roll bar installed anyway?

GMG RSR roll bar installed
Folks,
It finally got done. A great installation job by Tunerworks. I will have some of the carpet replaced in a couple of week so it will look very clean. I had the roll bar painted Atlas Grey to match the exterior of my car. With the stock sub-woofer taken out (not using it with my Audison system) there was no weight gain. My GT3 seat will soon be covered with Terra Cotta to match the passenger seat and Schroth 6-point harness and the GT3 seat will go in when the snow leaves us in April.
Here are some photos of the installation process (hope they load ok).
Cheers,
K.

Here's a few more photos
Here are a couple of more. After picking up the car it immediately felt a LOT more solid and VERY planted. Can't wait to get some track time in this summer. Here I come SoCal and Speed Ventures!

Project finished
Folks,
The GMG RSR roll bar, GT3 seat upholstered with Terra Cotta hide (found hide in LA and had it covered in Vancouver - quite the project), and (Hans red) Schroth 6-point harness is now finished. The rear was nicely finished by Mobile Solutions to hide the Audison system while allowing the roll bar to fit.
I really like the Schroth harness and it works perfectly with the OEM seat belts as well as unclipping from the roll bar when not in use and my wife keeps the OEM passenger seat for comfort.
Now for some track time in SoCal!
