Currently have a 04 996tt cab and considering trading it for a newer 2010- model. Only problem is i Love my 996tt and it has all the mods coilovers, tune, exhaust, Techart body kit and wheels. However it just feels like its dated and is time for a new one. Has anyone made the switch? Anyone have any recommendations. Do i go for a 2010 and up or keep the 996 and take the mods the next level?

Was in the same boat you are in about a month back. I just could not bare to sell my 996tt that is modded and raw and sounds vicious. So I decided to trade my daily driver which was a 08 Cayeene TT with all the best options, which was hard also but not once I got in my New 2012 Turbo S.

If I did not like to track my cars at least 5 weekend DE's per year it would have been an easier decision, but, I just was not sure I would feel good at least any time soon putting a 174k Turbo S on the Road Course the way I like to drive. My 03 is better suited for that not to mention has all the pwr, susp, safety mods already.

The other think I noticed was that 2010's with pdk and ceramics not to mention pretty much all used sports cars seem to be fetching a premium over the past year or so. I figured if I am going to pay 129-135k for a 2010 997.2, well then I may as well step up to a brand new car and knock as much as I can off the msrp if the end net difference is not much for a brand new car.

Love the 997.2 ttS, It really is an awsome car in every way.

Quick thought (from a non-owner).

If you're not getting PDK, performance wise there won't be a vast difference between your car and the 997.2TT. Interior wise, yes. Maybe throw some 997 seats in there or something to tide you over until the 991TT comes out. Then you can decide if you want a great deal on the 997.2TT or just go all in on the 991.

Just a thought, but you're getting so close to the model switch that holding out would probably be a better financial play. Plus, a few more years will give you time to see if the 997.2 engine block can ultimately take the same level of mods as the 997.1 and 996. I know right now people are all saying no, but it's possible that the tuners just aren't there yet.

Your thought process makes sense. I thought about the same except for that what got me to this place was a digression or visitation to the 993 tt or ttS. I found myself lurking and learning all about the 97/97 993tt and just falling in love with the design and curves of the car.

Once I learned that most nice ones esp the S models were fetching 80's + I said to myself, well as nice as they are, for that money I would rather buy a 997tt for similar or just a tad bit more money. I feel they have similar looks in certain ways but the 997.1 has a much nicer interior imo.

That progressed to well why not make it a daily driver and get a pdk and eventually let me to the new S. I personally love the look of the 993tt and the photos I have seen of the 991 or 991tt just seem to be farther away from that look so for me the 2012 S was a no brainer.
